Default 2007 4.0L Ranger VS 2000 Mustang V6 3.8L

Would the new 2007 Ranger 4X4 beat a 99-04 V6 Mustang 3.8L because I saw that this version has 207HP and 238 FT-LB's of Torque. In a race would this still be a close race? Because it is ridiculous that a ranger could keep up with a Mustang!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing to be worried about. It weighs more and it a 4x4. You should be able to get off the line quicker than him and keep him off you. Good luck

Hey bro I told you about this last night and I got to race my buddy today and like you said I was able to get up faster than him and keep him off of me. Those ratings on the ranger must be wrong or something because Rangers are freakin slow.

Thanks Fobra!!!

Well, for one. It's heavier than your car and it's a 4x4. My dad drives a 03 Ranger Edge V6 3.0L. It's really slow compared to my Mustang V6. Just because it has more hp/tq than you doesn't mean it will beat you automatically, you have to take it's weight into factor along with other things. Good kill

hey, my brother has a 2005 ranger v6 and we timed that thing 0-60 and it was upwards of 10 seconds man, you should have no problem. i know my sixer (07) runs about 6.5 so yours should smoke it too.

while on the subject of rangers, how difficult/expensive is it to swap an older ranger v6 into an 01? i think it was the 4 or 4.2, my car is gettin up there in miles so i'm thinkin of either a newer car or a tranny/engine swap

The older 4.0L OHV engine? It would probably require a bit of ingenuity. They were not that efficient of engines. I would not do it. If you are wanting to do a swap for a bigger engine then I would look at the 4.2L out of the older F-150's. They have more power than the 3.8L and respond better to mods.
