If it's you first time installing a body kit I would strongly sugguest
having someone doing it for you. You can have a body shop do the install and paint for around $1,000. But it also depends on were you live for the cost. For your exhust you could pick up a cheap one for about $500 But I wouldnt go with a cheap cheap one. You get what you pay for. Flow masters 40's or the american thunder muffs
will make it louder. I wouldnt go with magnaflow or borla there still alittle to quiet for me. Slp1 cat back will be the loudest but them again you will be paying some good money. Insurance will very from state, the car, your 16 and is the car paid for. Depending on where you bought the car from you might need full coverage depending if your making payments.
Just remember to complete the look you will need rims to go with it at the least. So it may add up quick. Figure body kit cost + 1500$ paint/labor + exhaust.
Best 05+ exhaust so far is the mid muffler system.

SLP'S ,... for got it was on a v6.
In all I'd do the body kit and rims first. You dont need the exhust right away. I'd get the incuerance first before anything!
IF YOU DECIDE TO UPGRADE TO HEADERS A H OR X PIPE AND HIGH FLOW CATS WITH A GOOD SOUNDING MUFFLER THAT ADDS UP VERY QUICKLY I HAVE SLP LOUDMOUTHS AND I LOVE THEM WITH THE EXHAUST UPGRADES I SOUND LIKE A V8 NOT A WIMPY V6 BUT IF YOUR JUST GOING FOR MUFFLERS THEN AMERICAN THUNDERS ALL THE WAY, BUT SLP LOUDMOUTHS ARE BY FAR LOUDEST THING EVER!!! AND JUST THOSE ALONE WILL SOUND LIKE CRAP ON YOUR V6

I would go with the FRPP 2005-09 Mustang V6 Dual Exhaust Kit 50 state legal. It complies with the factory warranty and is $699.00. They are the Bullitt mufflers so you know that they sound nice. You can hear what they sound like by looking up Mustang Bullitt on You Tube. Ford Racing Performance Parts [M-5230-V6*]
I'm sure as you know the full Saleen body kit is $1,599 and am not sure what the installation fees would cost. I am 20 and live in New York with one violation and I am paying $987 dollars in insurance with Geico. Hopes this helps.

I have Magnaflow mufflers, not Magnapacks and I still set off car alarms lol. As far as exhaust goes, you won't really see a gain in performance unless you buy a midpipe, and/or headers. Flowmasters sound more like a v8, and are decently loud, but I think that Magnaflow and Borla flow better than the fmasters do.

yo, dont know if ur still lookin for info but I got some, well a lot actually.
Saleen: sweet kit, i want it. Rear facia (bumper cover) is designed to fit the saleen center exhaust. (specifically) It has opening for the tips in the middle. Also, saleen body kit extends lenght of the car, u can see by how the tail lights are recessed. Im not sure if that would effect the ability to use another aftermarket kit if u found a way around the fascia design conflict, as I am trying to do.
V6 exhaust: Ive spent countless hours that add up to days, maybe weeks, looking and listening to exhausts for 05 V6 mustangs. That being said, there is still probly stuff i dont know about. What I do know is I have the Magnaflow catback kit for my 05 v6 convertible. I love this kit, it has a distinct sound. After hearing all the others, its still my favorite. Axle back mufflers like the flowmaster 40's all have the same bland sound. Dont get me wrong, some of them sound pretty nice, but they aren't throaty or aggressive enough for me. They seem to just have a low tone that gets louder with the RPMs. Cervini just came out with a side exhaust kit for the V6 that sounds just as good. Had this been out when i got my magnaflows, I would have had a real dilema, and might have gone with it. Sweet sound and sick looks. Worth checking out. Similar situation with the bassani v6 exhaust that comes with an x-pipe making it a true duel exhaust. It is just as aggressive.
Summary: Top 3 picks for best exhaust sound are Bassani cat back v6 system with x-pipe, Magnaflow cat back for v6 (comes with y-pipe, more info below), and the cervini's side exit exhaust for v6. Obviously prices vary. If mid-pipes are a concern, bassani's kit is nice. I forget what cervini's comes with.
Magnaflow V6 cat-back: Kit comes with a y pipe that splits the stock single pipe into two. To clarify, pipes come from the headers and then merge after the cats into the stock 1 pipe. (So it goes from 2 to one, a y pipe) The magnaflow kit comes with another y-pipe which splits the one pipe back into two and then goes to the two round mufflers out. Let me try to illustrate with a little text diagram.
Front of car = > - < =. Rear of car.
Starts as two, goes to one, splits back into two.
This kit sounds great. Starts and Idles with a nice deep tone and it steadily progresses up to scream at the top of the RPM range. I can't believe i even have to say it, but it is nothing like a ricer sound. It is a real muscle sound. I get compliments from everyone, including Mustang GT owners. If there is anything questionable about the kit, it is the cabin drone. Not too bad, and I have gotten used to it, but it can be a pretty loud drone in the mid 2000 RPM region. But given any alternatives that I had at the time, I would still choose the magnaflows even with the drone. Like I said, not that bad, but might be a concern to some of u. As ive said, I think the cervini and bassani kits are great to but I have no personal experience with those.
Midpipes: I have been looking for a while at mid pipes like the Mac Prochamber, x-pipes, and H-pipes. Thats one thing That i think is so nice about the bassani system. It comes with it. can't mix and match with a bassani x-pipe, cuz it is welded to the pipes down to and over the rear axle, making a 1 huge piece.
Advice: Pick a good one. Price should be secondary. If u want the saleen body kit, I dont think u have an option. sucks, i know. Check out slps, they can sound really nice if picked right. Sound great, but still a different sound, and sound progression throughout the RPM range that the other kits.
If u got any other questions let me know. Hope this helps.
