Default Spec Clutch and Aluminum Flywheel

I recently had my Spec Clutch and Aluminum flywheel put in. I was wondering if having these put in significantly raises the amount of cabin noise. I have noticed that when I give it any type of throttle past 40mph that the clutch and flywheel are about twice as loud as the stock ones were, almost like a grinding sound but just a loud sound of it winding up. I did not know if this was normal or if it was an installation issue. I do not think it is an installation issue, I had one of the better shops around here do the install.

On a side note I would definitely recommend the aluminum flywheel. It is so much freer in the rev range now. I plan on putting on the aluminum driveshaft after I get my books paid for. It should be a little rev happy after that. lol

I'm not understanding what you mean by "louder sound"? My short answer is no, installing a clutch, be it Spec, Ram, CF or any other brand, along with a flywheel(aluminum or otherwise) will not increase the noise in the cabin of the car. A mis installation could cause "noises" but the parts themselves, will not.

Can you elaborate a little more?

My bad. lol When I give it any type of gas at all past 40mph you can hear the clutch get loud all of a sudden and then as soon as I let off of the gas it gets quiet instantly. I do not know how to describe the sound, like I said it almost sounds like a grinding but at the same time you can tell it is not a grinding. I do not know, I may take it to a local speed shop to see if they can tell me. I had the new clutch, flywheel and throwout/pilot bearings replaced. Also there is quite a bit more vibration in the pedal now. Could it be the driveshaft?

Are you sure it's not the engine noise getting louder, quicker because of the lighter flywheel? It is able to spin up alot faster now so that might be a possibility. I think you had it right by wanting to take it to a local speed shop and let them have a listen.

Is the vibration in the clutch pedal? If so, could be the new flwyheel wasn't exactly a "perfect surface" right out of the box. I have seen that before alot more times than you'd think.
Are you certain the flywheel balance is the right balance for your motor?

The fingers on a diaphram style pressure plate are never uniformed and even across all 20+ fingers on them so the vibration could be the throw out bearing adjusted too close the fingers that it is "bouncing" off of the uneven fingers. You might try to get a look inside the fork hole opening and see how far away the face of the bearing is from the fingers without stepping on the clutch pedal. Rule of thumb is a 1/4" gap between them with the pedal at the rest position. If you're closer than that, it is possible that the uneven fingers are catching the face of the bearing every rotation and causing the pedal to bounce or vibrate. Check it out and let me know.

Sorry it took awhile to respond. I checked and it looked about .25". I took it to a local speed shop and they said they did not notice anything but they are more of an import shop with one guy who does the domestic's. It is not affecting the drivability or anything, I was just wondering if it was supposed to be making that sound.
