eh...when people bash my ride I just smile and continue on like nothing had been said...the best way to be actually...to be honest the 4.0 is not entirely quick BUT its not entirely slow either... I can think of other cars that are 2X the price that are actually slower...but a v6 mustang should never be judged harshly for it has a v6...the truth is, its very capable and when people smash it on the forums, they themselves only follow what everybody else does and think only one track, and doesn't really know what they are talking about really. In fact its cheaper to mod a V6 over a GT spec car then it would be to put the money into a V8. Just look at Carrol Shelby's latest Project SN197 V6...its pushing 375 RWHP...for the cost of a GT-H. AND better handling as a result of less nose weight^^ 150 Lbs make a huge difference.
I'm glad someone said something though.

It is good to know that I am not alone in this matter. I am sick and tired of the v8,GT loving, cobra charmers, and anything that is not a v8 powered mustang always making as smartass comment like "what, you couldn't afford the v8?" or "Why don't you get a real mustang!" Well let me tell you I have a 04 mustang v6 40th anni. with a few modifications that can not only take some GT's of the line but it can keep up with them at top end. I thought that the mustang community was all about comradery and appreciation of how awsome this car is altogether. Why don't we stop the nonsense and start apperciating the hard work and pride that goes into modifying this cars.
To all the V6'ers... i own a 95 GT and i bet and can almost guarantee that most of yalls V6's can beat me, so its cool to me a mustang is a mustang, i prefer the V8, but to each his own, i am not gonna bash yall cuase yall have a V6.

wait.... you say v6's arent fast....... what are they? Im not into bashing not even when its on ricers..... (used to have one because i couldnt afford a 'stang) but you have to admit that they are at least a little fast.

I have found that a stock V6 tends to be a bit sluggish out of the hole. But once you get it rolling it does quite alright. And on the highway she will more than move along.
But with that said, I would not consider a V6 Mustang (stock) as a "fast" vehicle... well not more so than my Dodge Durango which will also move along nicely if pushed.
They ARE however a very nice car and still a Mustang. To sit in one or drive it down the road, even slowly, you are in a Mustang. They have a feel and look that is purely Mustang. And I think that is why most people buy them. And the V6 sales have always kept the Mustang as a whole on the road.

im tired of people bashing on us v6 owners. they dont realize how much time and effort we put into our cars and how proud we are of them. ok so we dont have a v8 big deal, i have a v6 and am D*** proud
I had a few months of bashing from my former supervisor who had a 2000 gt and he was the one who advised me against the gt for winter driving. I have a v6 auto and I think he was surprised the first time he drove it stock. Now it is modded and he would not even look at the headers last fall I had installed. I spent about 2k on the car since last fall and I agree with darkgirl and my car will remain a sleeper. I have trouble getting it to slow down when other drivers get road rage or cut me off. I dont like some other makes but have owned all kinds and got this 07 stang and got it for the price and the only other choice was a v6 with mods and hood scoop that I did not like for about 3k more. I would like to have a nice 2010 gt but the 27k would hurt my wifes feelings. She is jealous of my stang as it is and will not drive it. So I agree with the ban on bashing cars here. I go for the tradional look in a stang anyway.

I own a 2008 Ford Mustang V-6, and I don't mind taking on any automobile on the road with the Mustang.
The "Driver" makes the difference, not the car. I can outperform any automobile no matter who the driver is, why?
Because I know what my automobile can and cannot do. I own a wimpy 2000 Nissan Frontier P/U with a silly 2.4 inline 4 and I beat the BMW's up to the Series 525, and the Mercedes C class machines all the time on the expressway, highway, or road, simply because I know what my vehicle can do.
Yes, I am saving my pennies for a V-8, but it will be a few years before I can afford one, but I still love my 2008 Ford Mustang V-6. Cut all you want, I am glad I own my Mustang...Wonderful car...better than anything I have ever owned, including ones with V-8's....

There you said!
I'm new here, too so I didn't read any bashings as of yet but could imagine how those v8 bashers... probably teens or early 20s are usually doing like that. No surprise here. lol
I bought a 2008 Mustang v6 Deluxe last week and am so thrilled to own one despite that I would prefer a v8 but money talks. I probably will buy a GT in near future just for a hobby but would use v6 lot more for daily use.
Boy, it runs smooth and firm just exactly I like in it!
bought my v6 and my husband drove it to work one day. one of the guys ( one of those guys who has something BETTER then anything you will EVER have) just kinda scoffed and make a nasty comment about how it wasnt a GT.
he drives a convertible mustang gt to deliever PIZZA. i just casually mentioned that since i make 34.00 an hour i dont feel that i need to compinsate for any short comings.
shut him up.
i love my v6.

V6 - V8??.....guys, I am 42 and am too darn old to put my insurance, and license to the test racing someone! We bought our 05 Vert because it was a Mustang, a convertible, and the feel of the the car...not for the thrill of making some punk at a light fell more like a man by smoking our a$$ with his ricer or 4.6L.
As that opportunity presents itself I simply ignore it and let the ISP handle it down the road at the next light.
This is only our second post here, but I like the idea of live and let live!
I don't own a V6 but they're still a Mustang. We're all of the same family here.
To all members: do NOT take on and fight those who try to bash on the V6 Mustang yourself. When this happens, things could get out of hand and might cause you to get warned or even infracted yourself. In the event bashing occurs, REPORT THE POST and one of the staff will take care of it. That's not the time to puff out your chest and go a few rounds of Joe Palooka with the basher, you both could get in trouble. Let us take care of it.
There will be no tolerance on bashing in the V6 area.

I just don't get this at all. I am 53 years old, I have owned several performance cars and just purchased a very well kept 1999 v6 five speed. It is a very nice car, so:
1- V8s exist at a reasonable price because V6 sales pays the bills, stop biting the hand that feeds you.
2- Used 1999-2004 GTs typically cost nearly twice as much as an equivalent V6, my budget made the decision for me.
3- Reliability, yes the V6 model has a better reliability record than the V8. That wouldn't stop me from buying a V8 but it is a comforting fact for someone on my budget.
4- Handling, the V6 is slightly better balanced than the V8 so if similar suspension components are installed it can be a capable handler (Yes, stock the GT is considerably better)
5- Simplicity, just like the older 5.0s the 94-04 V6 is a simple pushrod design, not very high tech but also much less to go wrong.
I could list all of the other pros and cons but it all comes down to my 1999 V6 is an economical grand touring car. On the highway I can get lazy and set the cruise control in 5th gear and get 28-30 mile to the US gallon (33 mpg Canadian). On a twisty road I have the nice T5 transmission to play with and the feel that can only come from a RWD vehicle, although I would have to push harder than a GT would.
80% of the performance for 50% of the price is a no-brainer to me.
GT guys, enjoy your cars, they are exceptional vehicles equal to far more expensive import gt models but remember that the V6 brought back performance to the base model, something that was woefully lacking in the 87-93 models with a rather anemic 2.3L four (which BTW is still quite entertaining to drive compared to the typical FWD compact).
Enjoy your cars.
