What car and year do you have? The easiest way is to use a transmitter, but the quality isn't the greatest since it picked up through the radio. Starting with the 07 Mustangs, Ford made the radio's compatable with them. I bought a Alpine head unit for that purpose. It takes over the Ipod and shows the menu on the display.

Your best bet would be either the transmitter or a new head unit.

If his head unit has an aux input.

Haha, that's the way I roll! I just pop the ipod in the cup holder. Usually I get too distracted by it and end up just listening to the radio..

Best bang for buck head unit is the Blaupunkt "San Diego" head unit. it's purely an mp3 head unit so the quality is increased over the cd/mp3 units. and last time I checked it was $90 total, it's probably cheaper now though.

I picked up an Alpine deck (CDE-9870, 80 bucks at Car Toys) with the Alpine iPod cable. Works great, Alpine has one of the better search algorithms (for faster music indexing) and the head unit controls work flawlessly.

Also you may want to check with whomever you're looking to buy from - not all stereos and iPod kits are (even yet) compatible with iPhone/iPod Touch. Alpines are.
