Default i am confused on some things with my mustang

so i have a 2001 ford mustang v6. i want to make it faster and i know some parts to get but i dont know what half of them are. i have a cai and a flowmaster dual exhaust. i want to put 3.73 gears in but i dont want to pay anyone to do it. i figured that if i could figure it out then i would save about 2-3 hundred dollars. and i heard that i should get underdrive pulleys. i dont know where those are or what they are. and i dont know if i could replace them myself. i am just trying to add power without pulling the engine. but if anyone else has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it. if you suggest anything will you please explain it to me to. im a little slow on these things.

No, leave the gears to the pros. If you want some easy power, check out a hand held tuner like the Diablo or SCT. Underdrive pullies just reduce the size of the pully, unlocking a few horsepower..

Price of installation depends on how far away from our shop you are.......

In my short time here on these forums, if there was one member's shop I'd be willing to drive 800 miles to it would be Shinerstangs. Otherwise, look around for a good shop since tossing in a set of gears takes proper setup or the results will be horrible and noisy.

I grew up near you...in Crawfordsville. I know a guy there in Crawfordsville that may be able to help you out. His shop is called DVS Restorations.
DVS Restorations, Inc - Specializing in Mustangs and Fords

His name is Dave and I also know Michael that works for him. They are close and they do quality work!

EDIT--I know you want to do it yourself. But setting up the carrier within the rear can be a complicated procedure. I started one and got flustered and took it to a shop just to line up the carrier.
