I would say to check your drivers side door beam for the axle and tranny code. If it is a 5, it is a T5.

It should be a T5. I think the 45's came in the 96-98 GT's until they got into the 3650's in 99.

it says 5 on the door, but the gears in the tranny are different than those in the t5's in our 89 5.0 and our 93 2.3, but is it still the same housing? I need to replace the bearing retainer on it is why im asking and i dont want to buy the wrong part.

it says 5 on the door panel, but it the gears in the tranny dont feel like the gears in our 89 5.0 or our 93 2.3 which i know both of those have a t5 in them. The reason i need to know is my bearing retainer is broke and been giving me clutch problems and i want to buy the right replacement part

That is because it is a world class T5, and should be rebuilt as such.....
