hey guys i'm new to this site but not new to mustangs, i have a 05 v6 auto and i'm going to be putting in a cai here soon. I don't want to re tune my cars do to lack of money,
I have read alot of forums on here and saw what people like and don't like, what i have not seen is why people do not like certain cai's. So as the new guy can i hear some ideas on what brand to not get and why.
Most CAI for the 05+ mustangs will require a tune in order to function. You get the full benefit of a CAI with a tuner and custom tunes from companies like Bamachips, Tillman and Brenspeed. A lot of them sell combo packages for around 500 bucks. Your best bet for gains would be a JLT intake matched with a tuner and custom tune from one of the companies I listed.
Now if you want to get less performance but spend less cash go for a K&N. They don't require a tune for your car. There are other companies that make intakes that don't require tunes but K&N is the most well know.
Welcome and enjoy the site!

As A7X1031 said, go for a combo CAI and tuner. You will get more benefit form the CAI with a tune for it.
