Talking Interior Project

Hello everyone, my interior came in gray, and now it looks like the picture at the bottom..

Disgusting right? Well all that you see gray in my car is going to become BLACK! Yes ive decided to convert all of it to black/blue.

Im in the process of doing that at the moment, my door panels, back panels, and center console is out of my car being prepped. My Dash isnt out yet i need more time to rip it out and make sure my stuff still works so i can drive my car since it is a DD and its my only car. Im trying to find some black leather seats and my friend is helping me build a custom rear seat delete after christmas. I found a site that sells pre-cut carpet and hoping to order that soon. I will keep updating on this project.

Cool!

Make sure you disconnect your battery before taking out the dash. You can bump you airbag system and deploy it.......

Taking out the dash is a PITA........

Are you just going to buy a scrap car w/ black interior and gut it?

I am planning on doing the same project when money isn't so tight. I am not a big fan of the grey. So I am going to do mine black n' red.

I've seen a few people that have taken out their dash and they said it was kinda a pain, but it will be worth it once it's all done.

Keep us posted.

Hey man sorry i havent replied sooner.. Since my interior was all grey, my carpet was also gray so i painted over it. You can always tape up the carpet.

I bought it at Autozone. Duplicolor Vinyl & Fabric Paint. And i used the flat black. The paint will rub off easily bc of the texture so if you dont want to be glossy then buy Matte Clear Coat so it says the same as before you put the clear coat on. Hope this helps

Does somebody know how much the paint last on the plastic. cuz i like the tan and grey interior but not the black sorry.

my current stang is green with tan interior which i love it but i've also seen grey and i also liked

I'm saving a for a sonic blue gt but i don't know if should put it tan or grey. cuz i plan to put a tan side skirt and paint the hood scoop tan(gold)

but is hard to find a cheap sonic blue with leather and tan or grey interior most of them are black.

I painted a few plastic pieces silver. Not too much, just enough to compliment the exterior. I used a plastic spray paint from Autozone. The key is patience and prep! I painted the pieces over a year ago, and they still look good. You did a good job, by the way.

Is there a way to have it paint it like if it were oem plastic?

People don't notice that it's not oem, honestly. Just take your time. I sanded the pieces down really well until they were super smooth before painting. Just go in thin coats instead of one or two big heavy ones.
