Default Mufflers on a dual exhaust 1996 Mustang V6

I have a 1996 Mustang V6. Does it even need to have mufflers? I am currently running dumped exhaust. The pipes are cut immediately after the Dynos I have on it. I want to cut off the mufflers, but need to know if I have to have them. Does anyone know? I live in Texas.

You do not have to have mufflers, but on a v6 I would recommend keeping them on. They don't sound to good without mufflers.

more than likely... yes. but im not sure. but i suggest getting good mufflers, flows, magnaflow, etc.. my personal suggestion is pypes violator muffler. i have them on my 02' V6 with stock cats true duals no midpipe, and it sounds amazing for a V6. but it sounds like you wanting it to be loud. if so i suggest getting good sounding mufflers and going with an off-road midpipe. much louder without cats even though its prob illegal. it would sound good with the mufflers and be loud since there are no cats. just my personal suggestion. but im running stock cats with the violators and i think its plenty loud enough when you get your foot in it from just slightly to full throttle.

i have heard some that sound real good. I have cold air intake and some performance parts. Right now it has a low rumble that you can faintly hear at idle and gets louder as I give it gas. My mufflers are made by flowmaster. They are Dynomax. I have ture dual exhaust as well.

I agree, a little much without mufflers. Even most V8's sound like crap without mufflers.

Did they have a company merger I wasn't aware of?

Cherry Bombs are about the loudest "mufflers" available. They are a straight through design and they do very little actual muffling.

thats what i wasa told when i bought them. they were 60 dollars less a piece than actual flowmasters. thats why i got them. they sound fine, i just want to know if a v6 will be to loud without the mufflers and if it will still pass emmissions.

well, the mufflers i have on right now are dynomax ultra flow. i looked more into them today and they are a straight through design. would taking them off have any effect on the emmissions?
