i never act like im fast. i usually drive pretty slow due to bad experiences with the police . when my car is cruising its not loud at all. however when i see a loud angry looking GT try and start with me i gladly accept. its all part of the fun, and with my mods, i usually dont lose or get destroyed too often.

in all seriousness i have a hard time respecting people who think they are better people because they own a GT. its still just a car.
my 2cents

I should have had my handle be old guy but here goes..I just purchsed my third Mustabg after 30 years +/-. The last I had was a 65 hardtop, 289, small holley 4V, auto with Mickey Thompson's on the rear and home brew duals. The current 2007 V6 with the 5 speed auto with take off GT wheels and tires out performs the old 65 hands down. Who says you have to have 8 cylinders to have fun!

Pat

Now I wish I had kept my 64 1/2,3 speed on the floor, fastback...I could have sold it and bought a Shelby for sure. Now you can cry, I also owned a 1971 Talladega Torino with the 429, one of only 500 built.....traded it for a family car when I got married. Last one on Barrett Jackson sold for nearly 200K...now that is an ouch you can feel. And the list went on from there, 67 GTO convertible 400 with tripower conversion, Merc Cougar Eliminator 69, 351 winsdor, auto, sn ending in 001. If I only knew then what I know now.

the stuff (some) v8 owners say about V6 stangs doesnt really bother me, because they're ignorant of V6's potential and dont think they are capable of anything.

probably the most heinous thing i have ever heard a v8 owner say was that "modding a V6 mustang is like modding a honda, and therefore are considered ricers".

a select few 6-shooters have already, and will continue to disprove that...

That doesn't bother me one bit. I always challenge them to meet me at the track. All of the Mustangs can be great platforms for modding.

It's never about the money, it is about being unique. That's why everyone chooses a different path to take with their cars. Some like show, some like go.....

Me and my buddy (I own a six and he owns a GT) We get along pretty good, of course it could be that I live in a small town.

I took my V6 to a drag strip out of town and heard nothing but compliments from people driving the best of the best. It could be from different since I live in a rural area, the closest city to me is Memphis and it's 45 mins away

I wish my mom drove like that!!!! Heck, I wish my mom had a Mustang... And don't worry: I'm 27, so I don't think you are old by any means!

You'll find idiots who don't know anything about cars talking smack in any group: tuner, muscle, exotic (aka - ricer attitude). Don't worry about them; like somebody mentioned, they are just compensating. Just look for the enthusiasts (like most of the peeps here ) and hang with them; just be sure to rep with your Stang bros!!

I own a 01 V6 and a 03 GT, I can tell you for the most part, it's mainly a ego thing for for some V8 owner's thinking they are better than V6 owners. I guess you can say I'm stuck in the middle here lol, but in no way do I bash V6 owners. My 01 V6 was my 1st car, till this day, I still love to drive my baby

Hey everyone! Its always been my dream to own a Mustang and two weeks ago I bought an 08 Mustang V6 with 23,000 miles on it for 14K. After reading up on Mustangs I was surprised to see the amount of V6 bashing. I bought the car cause its very safe, has awesome styling, and decent performance. I didn't buy it to break any land speed records. I came from driving a 4 cylinder Rav4 so this thing is definitely fast compared to that lol. 0-60 in six and a half seconds is plenty fast for me. I don't race, I don't drag race, and I don't speed. I'm sure they're are many Mustang owners just like me. If I pull up next to a Shelby GT500 I'm not going to try to race it. My mouth may drop as I drool over the car but its just not practical for me or many other people. I also don't think I'll put any money into modding it.

Some day may I buy a GT? Sure. But right now I'm 17, don't need any speeding tickets or accidents on my record and don't see the need to go any faster. For the price I payed, the car was a steal and definitely has good performance. I've driven a BMW 328i and a GrandAm Gt and the performance is right on par with both. Just my two cents.

Ok, fine...so you GT guys and Roush guys and Cobra guys have a fast car that was already fast when you bought it. ( forgive me if I am kicking a dead horse, I didn't read the entire thread )

See, the charm of having a V6 is taking a car that everyone knows is underwhelming from the factory and working it over until is performs as well or better than a Cobra or a Roush. So you have 500hp from the showroom floor. Ok, and you don't know how to change your own oil, have no idea how to drive your car to it's edge, and can only make stupid comments about how much faster your car is than mine instead of talking parts, numbers, how-to's, and races (won and lost).

IMHO, bash away, I won't even fight back. I'm not stupid enough to bring my 190hp knife to your 500hp gun fight. But, I earned my 190hp, mommy and daddy didn't buy it for me. And i know every nut and bolt of my car. I can fix it myself. I am the captain of my ship.

So, when you're out there burning off tires that you didn't buy on 20" chrome rims that you got for Christmas on the GT500 that you got for your birthday, remember that when it comes to knowing your own car, the V6 guys pwn you, because we have had to struggle to get to where you are. Cross us anywhere other than the strip and we will wear your car like a condom and **** your ****** with it.

My 6 teh pwn. More with less.

-Zach

ok the v6 can be a good platform, but to say it can better then a cobra is insane. In everyway a cobra is 1000x better and has more potentional with less $ involved overall.

Dont get me wrong, I love my V6 and think its pretty decent, but to say its better then a cobra is ignorant and being a fan boi.
