Default Mixing speed ratings on tires? 2000 v6

My brother has a 2000 v6 and is looking to put snow tires on the rear rims, but has v rated tires on the front? He was wondering if there would be any problem's and sideffects of doing this if any. Money is tight so please don't suggest 4 new tires. Thanks

speed rating isnt gonna affect anything unless you racing but since you talking about snow tires i think you could actually get away with some really low rated tires like an s rating. v if i remember right is up to 118mph. just try and keep decent tread on the tires and try and keep the same tires on the same axle.

should be ok I would think as long as they are the same size and you dont go faster than the lowest rated tires lol.

Also check with the laws of your State. Mixing ratings is not an issue (and any mixing of tires should be done in sets /front set or back set/ and not one off of the other) for the most part, but what can be is laws covering "snow" or "winter" tires and "other" tires on a car. Some places now require when putting snow tires (or studded) on a vehicle you must do all 4. But then again I don't know what your State's laws are on that or exactly what you mean by a "snow tire".

I personally tend to use all weather tires on my vehicles to just make things easier.
