Default Would like some input on my mpg please!

I looked at my car and it says that I have only driven 115 miles since my last fill up and I only have a quarter tank of gas left. At this rate thats about 150 miles per tank or 11 mpg! I Got a new k&n intake halfway through my last tank and got way more mpg so I don't think that could be the problem. Also I warm my car up for at least 5 minutes a day so this tank full of gas has about an hour or more of warming up time. I also only drive city and have been lead footing it from time to time. Could these actions have made my mpg this low or do I have some sort of serious problem on my hands?

Any input is appreciated
Thanks

before i thought i was getting 10 miles per gallon but i was wrong cuz i was stopping filling the tank but wasn't full now everytime i put 16.600 gals and i do the math and i get 13.5 miles and the other time i got 15.5 miles per gallon also if you put it fuel on a different place what's why. cuz our cars don't need premium just regular the only thing that matters is the brand of gas your're putting i use to put gas at fillco but this time i went to shell and i got really bad i can't belive it my odomete reads 80 miles and i have already a lil bit less than half thank so SHELL s***ks. also theres a lot of way you can do to get good miles but other can tell you. some i have heard are clean your maf sensor, change your gas filter, sparks, change your oil and other alittle difficult to memorize. good luck.

shell is a good quality gas, maybe you got a bad batch of gas...?

when did you last check/replace your air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, tire pressure?

also, i dont fill my tank all the way, usually less than half. people dont realize that gas is heavy, you waste more of it by trying to carry a whole bunch of it.

just my $0.02

Bad gad mileage? Welcome to the world of V6 Mustangs...lol. I noticed that one poster even seemed happy with 13.5 mpg, that tells you how bad they are. I've had my V6 a little over 2 months now, and honestly, if I had known how bad they were on gas, I would have gone ahead and gotten a GT. I thought I was making the smarter choice. So I'm afraid you'll probably just have to get used to it. Most of us get into the pedal more then we should, trying to get better performance. So that's what we live with, pitiful gas mileage.

On my last fill up I got 18.45 mpg. I have been averaging between 18 and 22 mpg according to how much city v highway driving I do. I also have had problems with Shell. When I fill up with shell at the second tank full my car starts to ping. Don't know why but when I put any other gas in the ping stops.

hmm... you might want to change the spark plugs fuel filter all that stuff like the others said but if you have the stock air intake there is a little rubber thing that goes around the air filter and mine was sucked up into the mass air flow sensor lol thank got it catched it and the wire stuff was cut out of it for some reason idk i got the car 6 months ago and that was the first time i cracked it open but that caused me to get 14mph now with the cai im getting 19.25 city and 30mpg hwy as of yesterday

hahaha yeah that was probably me! when i first got my stang i was getting like 11 or 12.. after my cat back was put in it was slightly higher.. like 13-14.. then again i was excited to have a mustang and probably had a heavy foot.. but yeah the warming up the engine for 5 minutes does kill your average mpg since its just sitting there burning gas. i dont understand how some of you guys are getting that kinda mileage like 19? i couldnt imagine getting that from my car.. then again i do have the stock intake.. and only a cat back.. the car only has 30k miles on it so its got fairly low mileage for being 6 years old.. tho idk why our mpgs are so low and some are higher?

That's exactly how I feel...lol. I see these guys saying they're getting in the 20's, and I'm like "man, I'd kill for 20's"..lol. My car has a CAI, new catback exhaust, a Predator tune, and all new plugs, wires, coil pack, everything......and I still get probably 14-15 mpg. This is how bad it is......I have a 97 Z28, and I drive IT when I don't wanna burn so much gas.....lol

i have the stock air filter and everytime it looks like it gets oil, i have 9 months with these car and i've never change the fuel filter, spark plugs 4 monts ago, tire pressure its always going down by itself maybe cuz i have profile tires and they didin't fit right into my rims. my car has 107,190 miles how much your car has? and i will be selling it soon.also mileage matters i think. also when my throw out bearing started to fail i left my car parked for 2 and a halft weeks do you think this is the reason. or somebody jacked my gas i'm going to check my gauge. with half of gas.

My V6 has been getting a consistent 22-24MPG. That is a mix of light highway and city driving. It has 113K miles and the only mod is Flowmaster dual exhaust. Just keep everything clean and make sure your tires are inflated to the proper pressure.
I'm not sure what I am doing different. I am by no means light on the gas peddle.

Thanks a lot for all the replies guys, I'll give you all an update of my real mpg once I fill up next week.

To the questions above, my intake filter is perfectly clean, tires pressure filled 2 months ago. Spark plugs and wires have not even been checked since I got the car over a year ago, I may have to change them this weekend. My car has almost 109k miles on her and I doubt the last owner changed the plugs and wires out. Would you recommend me do so and if so what brand type etc?

Thanks everyone

i would change the plugs out.
may want to check your tires again, cold weather and time will affect pressure.

I'll run to autozone tomorrow and get some plugs and wires. Should I go with the cheapest ones they have like regular autolites or go with the expensive double platinums?
