so one of my friends mom has a supercharger that he is just giving me off of a cobra engine. im not sure yet but i beleive its off of a 4.6L cobra not the 5.0 i was just wandering approximatley it would cost to get the engine good enough to support that supercharger. i dditn know if i should just dish out some money and get a new engine and im assuming ill need a new tranny and rear end. i just need some opinions because i wasnt planning on getting an SC but i mean if someone is going to just give it to me for free then im going to TRY and take advantage of it. lol my car is a 01' stang v6 and just wanted some opinions. should i just keep it and use it later on when i have all of the upgrades. thanks for you help
Well it sounds like you have the stock eaton supercharger that comes off an 03/04 Cobra? If so, the first step would be to swap to the V8. Dont think it would work with the V6, I think it would be a lot cheaper to just add a supercharger to your car unless money isnt a concern.

yeah im not made outa money haha, i do work two jobs at the moment tho and if this all works out well ill just save up for like a year then do the swap because its gonna be quite a bit of dough im assuming i mean because a new engine and tranny will be between 2000-3000 dollars and then the new rear end almost another grand am i right
A new engine alone will probably run about 5k. A new tranny is probably b/t 2 and 3. Then the new rear ends are about 1k. You should sell that SC and buy one to fit yours.
you do not need to do a V8 swap if you want to use the M112 Eaton S/C which comes off the 03/04 Cobras. You do need many parts to make it work for the 3.8 engine. You need an adapter plate along with a TB, etc. PM Mysteed considering how he makes M112 Kits for V6's. He can tell you what you need and how you need it. The adapter plates are quite expensive but it is necessary. You also do not need a new rear end if you dont want to. Just do not get DR's and run them at a track because it will break the rear end. It is fine for regular driving. A new tranny isn't necessary either if you have an automatic tranny. It will work just fine.
But like i said, PM Mysteed and he can help you out. To get everything to work, it will probably cost you around a couple thousand in parts and then it will cost you some more for an install. The adapter plate is the most expensive piece. Good luck.

An M112 is not going to like a stock bottom end. It just won't hold together for very long......
I would suggest a procharger at this point. We can put it on in a weekend if you come down to our shop. We don't charge any fees, just some beverages and pizza......
yeah, the 7.5 is weak but if you arent beating on it with the M112, it should be fine till you can replace it with a 8.8 (dont wait too long tho)

Richard is running his car with the m112 & stock bottom end and has not had any problems with it.

ok so i just found out tonight that it is off of a 08' cobra. so i was thinking about saving up for a new engine in the summer and then work with it that way or just have someone build me an engine with the supercharger on it but just give me some suggestions and ill reply back. thanks
you see thats what i said but my mom said that he said its off a 08 cobra which i didnt understand. but say its off a gt-500 what would i need and stuff. like how good is it and stuff. and like what engine would be best for me to buy to install this on. i mean if someone is going to just give me a supercharger im going to try and use it you know.
Eh well like with most setups the head unit (supercharger or turbocharger) in this case supercharger is not the most expensive part its everything else you need to go with it.
The M122 is probably going to be slightly too big for a stock 3.8L mustang. Your best bet would be just buying an m112 setup , procharger, vortech, or turbo setup.
