Default Messed up paint...and scratched :(

My sixer has a 6 inch scratch on the passenger side door. ITS DEPRESSING! I don't know how it happend, it used to never be there..my thoughts are someone walked by it and had something on their purse/bag or jacket and rubbed against my car...scratching it, or someone did it purposely.

I also noticed my paint was off on my fenders and the rest of the car...the door is also 2 different colors...which today i noticed after all the dirt was cleaned off by the rain. It goes from a darker red to a slightly brighter red on the door, so they tried to transition it.

So...considering i'm a perfection geek, i've been considering a paint job...maybe yellow...and then i'll put black stripes and MUSTANG inserts.

Comments welcome...also curious if anyone else has had a paintjob done for their mustangs...whether complete or just panels of the car...wondering if anyone did panels and had them come out matching + how much people paid.

THANKS!

man when you paint your car it's not that simple. I'd love to change colors many times. your never gonna enjoy it unless you stip everything down and gut it.. if you can live with the color of your car i suggest just keeping it and getting the small damage fixed. If not you might want to start removing every body panel and the carpet door trim.. Everything to get the Entire car yellow.. if not you'll have red interior/engine compartment with a yellow car.. Wouldnt be the most eye appealing.

if youre paranoid about the colors not matching and want to repaint it, just repaint the whole thing red again so everything would match like fm2k gt said.

well i was planning on having a proper paint job, so where every thing is stripped, im aware of the fees that it'll easily be 2K+, probably close to 3K. But I was just hoping someone around here can give me some first hand experience.

My problem is that the fenders dont match the hood, and whoever painted it before, meshed the colors from the rear to the front and made it transition through the door. Its pretty noticeable, and the fenders compared to the hood can't be missed when you look at it.

Triple post...but i think it might be worth the bump.

My mechanic's brother happens to work in the bodyshop business and I took the car to him with my mechanic to see how much he'd do my entire car for properly. He said he'd charge me $1800 CDN to do it.

I think this price sounds reasonable, i've known my mechanic for about 10 years now, so I trust him, and likewise, I trust his brother.

Opinions on the price? He said he was giving me a discount due to my loyalty to his brother haha. This covers the labor and paint for taking the panels off and painting them all and putting them back, with all the prep work being done.
