Question Funds? How can the average Joe afford to fix up his stang?

Well I know that some of you guys work very hard out there to get your mustangs the way you want em. I myself am just confused how some guys can afford to do so much to there cars.....

I mean between my mortgage payments, utilities, groceries, ect I can barelly find the time OR money for that matter to do the things I want to, to my Mustang. I still have yet to get my 2001 Mustang running, she needs motor mounts, the tranny swapped, new tires and the exhaust manifold replaced. The 2004 needs a front end alignment, and I'd like to get the windows tinted and smoked headlights but that even in itself is a VERY expensive task with my income.

It just makes my curiousity start clicking when I see people pour thousands apon thousands of dollars into these cars. I sure wish I had that kind of money to throw around LOL.

Yes, things can get tight. For me I simply only fix what needs fixing.. no more mods until things pick up financially.

But yes, when things break it can be a real pain finding the funds to take care of them. Thankfully I was able to take care of all my major mechanical issues this past year.

2/3 of these guys don't have to worry about big bills. The rest work very hard. I also don't get to do much to my Mustang, I am just glad to have it even in stock form.

what ive been doing seems to be working out pretty well:
at the end of each month whatever money i have left over from insurance, tool payments, rent, gas, food, etc etc etc, i tuck away into a savings acount. when i have a good chunk stashed away, i smash the metaphorical piggy bank and run to the "candy store" to buy oats for my pony

Well most of us dont have unlimited funds just a plan. I bought my stang used in 2001 its a 95GT had it a year before I did anything to the car. I just saved some money here and there and had a plan. I understand its not easy but you have to keep things real and within your budget. Keep in mind your family needs should be first and be patience and a smart shopper there are good deals on parts new and used check web sites and swap meets.

It's easier for me for this very reason. I wanna get al this done before I have my own family.

My 2 boys are grown up, and my daughter is 17, so it's "me time" now. We do all the work ourselves, so that saves a ton of cash. I rent a shop to work on our cars, and spend more time there than I do at home-even if it's just sitting around when people stop by. It has become quite the hangout for everyone, and we have parties there often. Just give us a reason.....

I'm on here to try to help you guys to save some money rather than taking it to a shop every time something goes wrong. I don't know everything, but I know enough......
