Default Probably a stupid question about CAI

I was at the junkyard a few days ago searching for a new headlight, when to my surprise when I popped the hood of a completely decked out 95 V6, I saw a shiny new cold air intake kit. Naturally I nabbed it without a second thought. I need to go back and get that exhaust and headers too... anyways, I don't know what brand the Cold air is, and was also wondering are cold air intakes supposed to have a fan-like setup inside them, just before they meet the throttle body? I would just imagine a fanblade inside the cold air intake as more of an obstruction, causing the car to work harder to get that air to be sucked into it. I dunno, flame me if you want but an honest answer would be nice. I'm trying to really get into these cars and truly understand them to the fullest. Thanks!!!

There shouldn't be anything like that in a CAI. Can you take pictures of it. We may be able to identify it that way.

Alright, that's what I thought. I'll get pics once this snowstorm stops. Like 9 inches in the past 6 hours so far, kinda bad. Haha well thanks a lot though I will definitely get pics up. It looks a lot like the front of a jet engine, and as stated earlier it's just right before where you would link it with the throttle body. It almost seems like my MPG has decreased as well, for all I know it's robbing Horsepower but I like to imagine it's helped... ***Oh, and it's an engine bay-based CAI. I've only seen one brand that's done this for the 3.8 V6, 1995. May be more that do, but just saying.

I have seen a couple of things online that are pretty much scams that could be what you are talking about. One you put on the MAF pipe and it had a vortex look inside and it said it got the air spinnig like a cyclone and had better air flow. Also another thing I saw was labelled as a "turbo" but it was just a fan that you attach to the air intake and it said as your air was sucked in it would spin the fan and more would be forced into the engine.. I dunno but it sounds like it could be one of those.

Lol, yeah I feel stupid for having thought it was part of the cold air intake, and immediately thought, "Wow, what kinda kids wanted to rice up their stang by putting on this *Supercharger* in a CAI?" But tried to shrug it off and thought, hmph, maybe it is just part of the intake. Nah, it's going off tomorrow. The fan that is.
