In other words if you ran a 3.8L vs 3.9L and everything was equal you would both be right beside eachother.

The 3.9L is the same as the 3.8L, but the 3.9's have a slightly longer stroke. Nothing crazy.

stalkerstang, whats the actual difference between the 232/238 ?
some people say the crank is different, some people have said the 3.9L uses the same crank/pistons/bore, but use a slightly longer connecting rod. lol so which is it?
just curious

Pretty sure its the stroke, the 3.8's have a 3.39 stroke, 3.9's have a 3.4646 stroke.

But there is a difference in compression distance from the piston pin to top of piston. 3.8's are 1.45 and 3.9's are 1.4106, not sure if that helps or not, lol.

Rods are the same at 6.091, but the crank is a different stroke.

The piston for the 3.9 is a little shorter from the piston pin to the top.
