Default V6 to V8 Conversion

Well I've been searching around and of course we all know that a V6 will never sound or be like a V8. So I want to know what parts will I need to switch my V6 into a V8? I don't know how much there is to it so I want to see if anyone here knows every engine part that I will need?

Also I know it might be easier to just sell my V6 and buy a GT but there are many things that complicate that situation and can't do it so I want to convert my Mustang to a GT instead.

If you don't have experience on swaps it still will be more expensive I've seen alot of 99-00GT for 5-500 on craiglist, autotrader etc... Just keep looking, My car is a v6 and someone is gonna give me 5k for it....
You need:
  • computer
  • diferential
  • transmission
  • wire harness
  • cluster
  • etc...

It may never sound like a 99-04 GT up top, but we can do better at idle Anyway I would just sell the 6 and buy an 8...

You basically need to buy a whole wrecked GT to get all the parts you need. It is not worth it unless you can do all the work yourself and can get a doner car for a reasonable price.

well if you all would have listened to his message, he said that things are complicated and he cant get a gt, im assuming because of insurance issues. i know you want a v8 but if you get a v8 then you cant to all of us here, her is my opinion on what you should do. go get a junkyard v6 or whatever, buy a 03'cobra supercharger(you can get them on ebay for around 500) get kit so you can bolt on the supercharger(someone help me out i forget the website that the guy has them) and just work with your v6 and just be proud of what you have. if you want to get a v8 just for the sound in my opinion that is just dumb. you can easily make your v6 faster than a gt. by the time you get all of the parts and everything you could just mod up your 6er. i know your probably getting mad because you want a v8 and nothing else. trust me i did too and i got mad also. but this is my opinion now.

its about $900 for the adaptor plate.

to the OP, if you are hell-bent on getting a V8, find a donor car. (preferably a rear-end/side wreck)
i honestly suggest building up a V6.

My guess is car payments are more than the car is worth (like many of us, including me) so he has to stick with what he has.

I'd guess that after finding all the other parts putting that blower on would be between $1500 and $2000 and then the V6 would have no problems keeping up to/beating stock GT's. I would also avoid the V8 route if at all possible since it is gonna cost $3K+ to install a V8.

A while ago I posted a thread asking how much you pay for you gt insurance and most of the answers were 120-130 so is not that high even if you have a 04GT, also the reason people get a gt is for the looks, like the hood scoop, dual exhaust, Gt badges, etc. and they say is really cool, fun being driving it.. That's why I also want one.... also the v6 engine is capable of 350hp then you need to start forgeding parts while with the gt you can go till 450hp that means that after reaching 350 you will need to start spending a lot of money first just to catch a stock gt later to aloud more power plus with the gt you can have higher hp, I still haven't seen a modified v6 having more hp than a modified GT..

OP. Ok if you still want to do the swap is okay we're just suggesting you an easier way... Good luck on the project...
I know somebody will quote this...

130 a month? That's $1560 a year just to insure the thing. I guess that's not really too bad for a nice car. I pay around $50 a month for my sixer, and I'm a "kid". I sure do feel good about my insurance now.

thats because you havent looked for one. they may be few, but they are out there. i saw a V6 sn95 in mm&ff that still used the stock 3.8L block and was turning 9.6's in the 1/4. sure he used around 30psi, but he got it done with a V6. lol look at shiner! he's past the 600rwhp mark. that is a GT500-eater.

thats just gravy. most of them only care about the V8 under the hood.

lol why is it that every time someone asks for info on a swap the thread becomes a V6/V8 debate? its getting old...

yeah and he's struggling to get 700hp while I have seen a lot of gt with that, have you asked him how much he had invested?? also think about a modded GT-500 that for sure will pass that... Put a video about that one I will like to see it...
I knew you were going to quote me... also he hasn't get to 10 or a little high seconds on the 1/4 miles while others Gt's do.. and you cna have a v6 with 500 hp but who will know that??? are you gonna put a badge saying I have 500hp, or a sticker on the rear window saying that if you dont believe me race me?? Everyone gt owner will be bashing your car.. that's also another reason why people get the GT.

have you never heard the term "sleeper" ? real gearheads arent worried about what other people think about their car. they mod what they like. nobody needs to know how much hp your car has.
anybody that puts a sticker on their car bragging about hp is probably full of sh**.
and any GT will struggle to get to 600rwhp, let alone 700rwhp.
if your worried about GT owners bashing your car, then go buy a GT. or better yet, buy a cobra so you can bash the GT owners. even then someone will still be able to bash you.

and what GT's are you seeing that are running 10's or better? the ones that are have plenty of money invested also.

Yes I know the term sleeper, but most of them are putting things that make them look like a gt so that's not the answer. Also why you're telling me to get a gt?? on your profile it says that you want to swap a gt engine so why you're saying different things...??

Add this to this old tiring argument. It takes alot of time and money to make ANY factory Mustang engine reliable with over 500HP. 3.8/4.2/4.6/5.4 or any other small block. Bringing Shinerstangs car into this is proof positive. He made the mistake of getting stuff done to his last engine and was forced to rebuild it quickly. Anyone talking more than 400HP whether they are V6 OR V8 is usually full of it and will nebver even get past 300HP. There are ALOT of talkers and very few doers when it comes to this.

All this crap about what can make more power is meaningless. What makes ALL the power is the know how, the ability to do the work and the $$$ to carry out the plan. If I had the money I could make a 1000HP 3.8L V6. Sure it would cost far more than it was worth but that is all it takes.

Stop the same BS arguments. This is ridiculous to say the least..........
