Default Is this normal?

Alright so a buddy of mine has a 1994 Mustang GT Automatic. It has an air intake, and a Venom Control Module. Then there is my Mustang, a completely stock 2000 v6 5 speed. We raced about half a mile and i was beating him like 3/4's of the race. He beat me the last 20-30 feet of the race. Is that normal for a 2000 v6 stock mustang to almost beat a 1994 gt in a half a mile race?? Or was it cause i have a 5 speed and his is Automatic? Cause that race really surprised me, i thought he would of wasted me.

imo those 94-94 GTs arent all that great... less power and more weight than the fox body's. The manual shouldnt have too much to do with it if he know how to launch an auto. Nice almost kill i suppose

He's only pushing 15rwhp more than you aprox... did you rev the engine before the race? Those have 215hp but for being an auto they loss 10rwhp... So 190hp vs. 205hp is not a big deal..
How can I recognize them 94-98GT's.. cuz there's a guy around here always speeding on his black GT, but I don't want him to smoke me real bad cuz I've 20's you know but his an auto too...

More like a 30-35HP loss for an automatic, 10-15HP loss for a manual transmission.

Are you talking from crank to the wheels??
Usually is 15%loss but the auto loss 10rwhp more aprox..

For these cars there is roughly 30-35HP loss between the crankl and the wheels for the automatics and roughly 10-15HP loss from the crank to the wheels with the manual transmission. It is very possible that there is more than that, my guesses are the best case scenario.

Manual is alot better for the street and they will smoke the autos on the street...but autos are more for drag applications...so that is possible that the tranny has to do with it...and the 94 gts arnt that great as well..

BDS, did you seriously just ask if you could take a 94-98 GT with your 20's? And you can easily recognize them. They are more rounded than our 99-04s and in my opinion, not as attractive. Be careful you don't try and race a 96-98 4.6 one that has the PI swap. If it has the PI swap, its like having a 99-04 GT... made that mistake once.

On another note, some people tend to look past torque. Sure 5.0s and early 4.6s have only a few more hp than our 6s, but their torque output is much higher. Thats why those cars ran about 14.9s stock (some faster), which is faster than a 15.8 manual v6.
