ok my v6 2001 musty transmission is slipping i think

because i was just on the freeway and was doing about 70mi per hour and i had a straight road with no cars in sight so i punched the gas at max and the cars rpm meter started to jump from 3000 to 5000 then back to 2000 then 3000 again while the car was doing a sort of jump like it was trying to get into the next gear but couldn't bring it's self to do so

so im totally lost on what is going on with the car

so i take it ur an auto?

since us aid like its shifting gears?


check fluid levels. if the fluid is old, change fluid and replace filter and clean off magnet.

so drain the old fluid and replace the filter clean magnet then replace fluids gotcha

well i dont know tto much about the AOD on that car.

but yes. youll need new fluid, new filter, new gasket.

its a easy job but can get messy

if ur trans dont have a drain plug get a bag of kitty litter too.

im trying to learn more about the earlyer sixers so keep me updated

Mine does the exact same thing! I've been trying to figure out what it was. Do you guys think a tranny fluid change/flush would fix it?

I noticed that you said you were going over 60 when you floored it. Did you turn off the OD prior to hitting the gas. If not I have found that the transmission tends to "search" for the correct gear. Try that and see if it helps.

the od is always on????

and yes i did try pressing the od button the second time but still the same thing

thats what the other guy says

but its a start at cing what it wrong with the musty
try it an then go from there

other than leaks.80% of trans probs on my or friends cars...need new fluid lol

yup its fixed the prolems i was having with it

but i think my tranny needs to be serviced so ill be taking it in this week or next month depending on if i have the money
