2 cats and 2 pre-cats. I doubt any junkyard will actually pay for those cats at all.

You won't lose "A lot" of power. It just moves up in the band. The lowend torque you lose will be found higher up.

Believe it or not, cats are a big business. I sold mine last Spring for $210.00. The platinum in them is what is recycled. Import cars are more. The price has dropped since the economy has been hit hard, but they are still worth money.......

They actually paid for the cost of my long tubes and Windstar intake on the '01.......

Look for the people that pick up scrap from local repair shops. They are the ones that will pay cash for cats. Most junkyard owners are greedy bastards that want everything for free. Don't forget to check your local inspection/emissions laws too since you are technically breaking the law by removing any catalytic converters and if they need to be there for visual inspection you will fail. I would not gut my converters, I'd buy an offroad pipe so that I still had them for inspection purposes.

oh where i live theres no emisions , but would it be better to gut the cats and leave them on for a lil pressure or remove them and weld in some piping (leaving the O2's alone for sure)

also my exhaust set up is custom with two flowtech redhots (cherry bombs) and a little bit of piping 2 1/4 outlet so im not sure if removing the cats or guting will leave enough back pressure

Again, gutting the cats is foolish. If you want to have none then get the proper off-road x or h pipe. It makes little/no sense ot gut or remove them unless you are running 300HP+ as you will not see any gains and you will have torque loss and a very raspy sounding exhaust. The tone will not get lower, it will only get more raspy as the RPM's rise.

Just because you have no emissions laws does not mean they are not going to look for converters as well. Gutted converters will not offer any back pressure at all as well. To me there is no upside to messing with them unless you build a high HP drag car.
