Exclamation 2004 V6 Ford Mustang Purchase

2004 Ford Mustang 2dr Cpe Standard Gray Coupe. A Ford Mustang at Dave Syverson Auto Mall Albert Lea MN

I'm not very car savvy, yet I've always been enticed by the Ford Mustang.

So, I come to this community in search for guidance.

The link I pasted above is a link directly to the dealer, and the stang I've been interested in.

My first question is: Is it set at a decent price?

My second question is: I hear it's daunting driving any mustang during the winter; but I hear it's possible to prepare your mustang for it. (Albeit it still will never equal having FWD or AWD) I ask because I live in Minnesota, and I have a 25 mile trek to work and back, every night; yet I really, really want a mustang. If I play it safe, add weight to my trunk, get winter tires, and whatever else, will I see a noticeable difference from my current 96 chevy cavalier FWD?

I am kind of retarded when it comes to this entire subject, so please try not to abbreviate everything. =[

This would be my first mustang.

I'm also curious; if you believe I REALLY should deviate from purchasing a mustang due to weather issues (it would obviously be my main ride, even during the winter), what should I get; within a $10,000 range. I like sleek, and fairly decent MPG, and nice interior.

Thank you very much for your input; sorry if I sound dumb.

Default Apologies

I apologize if I asked these questions in the wrong forum section.

P.S. I am in love with the Ford Mustang; it makes me want to move away from the snowy regions. >_>

I drove my convertible all winter, all I did was get a separate set of winter tires and rims. I didn't bother with weight in the trunk. It did fine as long as I used my head when the roads were really bad. I'd say I get atleast as much snow as you would if not more. A Cavalier will be slightly better in the snow with all seasons, but the Mustang is just fine with winter tires.

The price seems OK, just make sure to get a Carfax to see if it has ever been in an accident. Also look very closely at the paint on the hood. Ford did a shitty job painting the hoods of these cars. The paint is coming off mine in chunks and it has always been taken care of.

Default Thanks!

Thank you for your help!

IMPORTANT! The 8 records on this 2004 FORD MUSTANG may confirm a clean title history or uncover potential problems. Find out by ordering the CARFAX Vehicle History Report.
I got that at Carfax.com, and then I went to: http://www.ford.com/owner-services/m...FP40484F100954

and typed in the VIN, and got nothing...

This might be unpleasant? =[

Hard to say, there is usually a Carfax entry when the car changes owners as well and when a dealer has it he most likely bought the car at an auction or from another dealer meaning it has changed hands a few times between registered owners. The selling dealer should have no issues getting the Carfax for free to give to you to help ease your mind.

Dont worry bout the weather thing if you love mustangs that much just drive smart and use your traction control in your stang if its equipped with it. I think the 2004 V6 stangs had Traction control in 'em.

In the video of the 04 stang you want you cant see the middle button behind the automatic in your car. But check to see if the middle button has something on it that says "trac off" on it. If it does that means that you have traction control equipped stang. Dont worry about the button farthest to the right it will be blank since its not a GT stang and doesnt have fog lights.

Mine does not have Traction control....hahaha I love laying rubber anyways LOL.
I drove mine in the winter once and I hope the last...BUT i never had a problem sad to say I even drove her in a BAD snow storm we had and made from Chicago to La Crosse a good 5 hour drive took me 8 though LOL. Made it and saw cars in the ditch I kept chuggin LMAO.
SNOW TIRES will help a lot.

I really really hope the carfax goes well! :crossesfingers:

Yeah, no traction control or ABS here either. Again, driving as the conditions allow and snow tires make these cars do fine in the snow.

Default Woot!

Well, the loan and purchase is finalized! I will be picking up my baby tomorrow morning!

I got them to sell me the car for $7,500; and the best part is, the carfax came back incredibly clean, the only things that need to be fixed is a tiny golfball size dent on the rear passenger side of the car. There's also a bit of rust in places that we found early enough. =]

I am an official owner of a Ford Mustang!

So excited for tomorrow!

Thank you all for your advise!

Congratulations on the purchase, they are a blast to drive. And you shouldn't have any problems driving in winter weather if you have sense. There are always a few bad ice storms where I live, and even with those it's not too hard to drive in the winter, and I have no weight in my trunk, and no winter tires. Just be careful, and have fun when the weather gets good
