Default Exhaust prices for a v6

Im looking to go for an on-road x or h pipe with a dual exhaust.

I have read lots of the forums and done some research but everyone seems to be quoting like 500 bucks for a new exhaust.

After buying everything i would need to do it properly, even buying the cheapest stuff i can find, im still looking at close to 1200 just for exhaust. And thats only for parts, i would still need to install it myself.

I live in ontario so i need cats for e-tests but saddly that adds about 400 to the cost of exhaust.

Anyones input on how to get this done a little cheaper would be much appreciated.

I live in canada so the free shipping at AM doesnt affect me if that helps any.
Cheers,
Ian

Why not go to a local exhaust shop and get a quote? You can also call them and see what they tell you. Estimates are usually free and only take a few minutes. This is probably the most economical way to go.

yea thats alooot. i mean thinking about it 180 at most for the muffler. (jegs 89.99 flowmaster 40) the tips 80 the most for tips (thats alot of cash for tips :P im just over exaggerating on price a lil). then the H pipe 150 at most also the if u like the x pipe like me 200. then the fabricating and the pipes and labor should come around to 200 at most. So as far as price goes here it sums up to 660. how about you add some high flow cats thats another 200....total 860 even thats expensive what i wrote lol and still its lower then the price your throwing at us . Best advise i can give is just take it to a shop and get a quote just like the other guy said.

Spartan1,

I have a thread addressing an issue that came up when I started researching this for me as well.

My last quote from a performance shop was $475 plus mufflers. This was for cutting the Y-pipe after the cats and going duals with an H-pipe.

Guys, you all don't realize just how badly Canadians get raped when buying automotive parts. There is no shop in Ontario that will do it for under $800 parts included.

Steeda Ford Performance Parts - Steeda.ca

You can get the parts you need there and put a Flowmaster GT catback on your car with the V6 adapter kit for under $900 shipped.

Just out of curiosity, would it be worth a trip to a US border city to have it done? I'm not sure what the legal implications of those actions would be, if any.

Well, if a Canadian could line it up to have it done over the border then it could be worth the trip. Technically there is no way in the world the border agent is going to be able to figure out that you had a new exhaust put on your car. I do know of a few people with high end cars (Porsche, Lexus, etc..) that do this for tires since they save a massive amount of money. It is a definite thought and any of you New york/Ohio/Michigan members could actually help line up a shop you know and trust it could definitely be made worth it. Hell, I'd do it now that you say it, lol.

so wait im hearing that it would be cheaper for me to drive my car all the way to new york, get them to make me a custom exhaust then drive back to canada then it would be to just go to shop here and do it.

WTF thats crazy.

I dont even want that crazy of an exhaust i just figure that if im gonna get one then instead of getting a lame catback i may as well see some power out of it.

The REAL problem is that Canadians pay double and then some for the same work/parts as they do in the US. If you know someone over the border you could have them set up the appointment for you and yes, you'd save alot of money.
