well if you ask any guy on this forum if you should buy a mustang....ur prolly gonna get an emphatic yes. i am on my second mustang. my first was a 1997 V6 and the gas mileage on that car was crazy good. like 29 mpg on the highway. my newest is a 2004 mustang GT. its my baby. the city mileage isnt awful, but its also bone stock. the highway mileage is about 23-26 mpg. the only regret about owning a mustang is that i cant just run to home depot and grab lumber, but hey...take the good with the bad. as far as the car....do your research. 4,000 for that car aint bad i guess depending on its condition. the great thing about mustangs is that they make quite a bit of extra noises if they are abused (creaks, crackles, excess power steering noise, etc.) the only other thing is that horsepower comes pretty cheap with mustangs, especially V6s. you'll feel a huge difference with a good exhaust and intake. hope this helps...welcome to the forum. hope to see you around.

Sounds like a sweet as deal to me. Only 100k on the motor isnt really a lot if you take car of the care. which is really easy to do. oil change tune up. etc etc. i would say get it :O even more if its just to cruise around your not gonna have to worry about modding it to much. Maybe some rims n new headlights. New tail lights or black them out all up to you. Plus the v6 sounds wicked with a good exhaust. I say buy it but then again it might be bc i love mustangs... lol. Plus if u just need it to cruise around there wont be the con in the way. meaning the con of a v6 is its power basically. it wont be a solid racing car without some major work into it. still could make it run 14s with some light modding. So the car is a win win BUY IT.

that car sounds like an ok deal, if its in good shape.

V6 mustangs are very reliable cars overall, if you take care of them.
typically the gas mileage isnt the greatest, especially if you can't keep your foot out of it.

The v6 mustang doesnt get great mileage, but it will get alot better mileage than your truck LOL. I have heard up to like 28 on the highway. I get 19 around town with my mods. Also, mustangs are nice cruisin cars. If you have a nice mustang, just about everyone will notice. My car has never broke down or left me stranded, and i have owned it for 2 years. There is one problem with mustangs though.... Once you start modding, it is certainly hard to stop...

um the one problem with gas milage is your foot i have seen any where from 350 to 200 miles in one tank but i also have some mods the 3.73 dont help there but click on my link hear my exhuast ... its a v6 so you get what ya get ill a make a good vid soon with all rpm ranges and angles. there are two problems i have with my mustang well 3 i love it too much and i hate getting it dirty so i half the time i strip down to the boxers and throw my dirty clothes in the trunk and evertime i get sometypr of nic or scratch i hate it cuz i know of everyone of em...... and modding is way to addicting once you get the stang it begins and last sometimes when you take a turn the all the plastic panneling in the car makes a small squeak (a tight turn) but i put some wheather striping behind it all so it doesnt do it anymore but take it for a test drive youll fall in love

yeah i got my mustang about a year ago
it had around 80k miles on it and i bought it for 5,700
itsa V6 had performance headers on it already witha k&n filter with some exhaust work done too. but i love mine, i think you'll love yours too if you get it.

my mpg isnt that great, but i blow most of it away racing, lol
but i get an average of about 20 mpg on streets and freeways.

You already know we are going to say yes, buy a stang, a V6 is a good starter car, the bug will bite you soon enough.

My first car was a 1996 Dodge ram and now I have an 08 Mustang V6. I love the mustang because it is a lot of fun to drive and there are so many aftermarket parts.

Thumbs up We <3 our Mustangs

Since you say the car is in excellent condition, I think you should get it. Definitely do a CarFax report on it first. A 2000 convertible for $4K sounds like a great deal--especially if it was garage kept & well taken care of. Your highway mpg will definitely be a step up from your Dodge Ram plus, it's Summertime & everybody loves cruisin' with the top down.

PROs: Too many to list but... 1) Looks great & fun to drive 2) Very responsive to power add-ons 3) Many aftermarket parts available for customizing to fit your personality 4) Awesome community of enthusists through Mustang car clubs & websites (like AFM.com) & 5) IT'S A MUSTANG!!!!

CONs: 1) Stock V6 isn't very powerful (compared to GT/Cobra etc.) 2) There's always another MOD, never ever enough $$$, & no rehab treatment available for when you finally get the itch...
