Lol I knew it'd be the exhaust manifold... Its a common problem with our V6 mustangs.

Seriously, $500 and $900?? That's a lot for just manifolds. Might be better off going to American Muscle and ordering 2 BBK Shorty Headers for $280 or JBA's for $434 If it's just the manifold that's leaking, then maybe replacing them could solve the problem(if they're cracked). If not then maybe new gaskets? Cheaper than $900 I'm sure, since Mustang 220 got his for only $5.

$900 ??

forget that...

get yourself a pair of aftermarket shorties for $250-$300, take a few hours to install them yourself, and call it a day.

besides, dont give your money to mechanics who can't figure out what's wrong with your car. a $7 can of seafoam can tell you where exhaust leaks are.

I used the Seafoam tonight, smoked up the neighborhood. That was fun.

On the passenger side exhaust manifold the last cylinder closest to the car leaks. It didn't really seem like a bad leak but there was smoke coming out of it.

The car is still ticking though. I swear it sounds like the ticking is coming from the engine. The ticking isn't really loud except when you first start the car though. If I get the headers replaced and it's still ticking what should I do next?

Paranoid,
Giezr

I believe I still have a set of headers around for it. If you are telling us that your manifolds are cracked, that is where the ticking is coming from. Once they heat up, they will expand and the ticking usually goes away......

You can bring it up to our shop and we can fix it. We only charge pizza and beer as install fees......
