Default AutoTransmission button stuck

I own an 2002 V6 3.8 convertable with Automatic transmission. The car has been doing great since I purchased it a year or so ago. However that said today I drove it to the store and when I came out I couldn't get the push button on the AT stick to engage. It finally did after using a tremendous amount of pressure to push it in. It has repeated the same thing again now that I have it home. It seems once the stick is out of park the push button works fine if I want to shift gears or such. It is just very difficult to get the push button to disengage out of park to drop the shifter to drive. Any suggestions? has this happened to anyone else? any recommedations on what to do to fix it? I would appreciate your advise, Steve

it might just be a fuse under the steering wheel

one way to bypass the park lock is to turn the key once so the lights aren't on than shift to N then start your car

I had a similar problem when I blow that fuse

Default Transmission button stuck

Guys, No I didn't forget to push the brake and I don't have any trouble starting the car. It is just when I try and push the button in on the stick to disengage it from park that it seems to need an extrodinary amount of pressure. Once out of park the button works fine to shift the gears around. I can't figure it out it just started out of the clear blue. I may need to take it in to a dealer and see what they say. Thanks Steve
