Default How do I use my lights?

Well this seems like a stupid question to you all. However, myself and a few people have tried turning my dash lights on with no luck.

I took it to a mechanic, and he said there's nothing wrong with them. He turned them on and showed me. Indeed, they worked fine.

I got in the car and drove away. I try to put the dash lights on with no luck.

My car is a 2004 V6. I know it's not a 2005+, but I didn't know where to post about this as most of the other forums seem dead.

BTW: the same switch (on the left of the steering wheel on the dash) controls the headlights and taillights as far as I know. I can get the exterior lights to work by pulling the knob all the way out.

However, I have no clue how this knob works and it's pissed me off. Thanks for any help.

When you pull that knob out, turn it to the far left. It works as a dimmer for the inside lights. If it's turned all the way to the right, it looks like the inside lights are not on.

Ok Based on what you said about the nob it seems the same as mine...I have a 2000, pull the knob towards you and the lights should come on make sure you pull it all the way out because sometimes I think I turned them all the way on and I only turn on the parking lights, after you have the lights on twist the knob to the left or right side you can either dim or make the dash lights brighter....Hopefully this helps....

Thank you. However, I've tried this with no luck. When you to it to the far left you can click it. Should I click it or keep it before the click comes in?

Really, I feel like I've tried all combinations with no luck. I can adjust the mileage and CD player lighting, but I can't get the speedometer to adjust.

If you go all the way to the left and it clicks, your turning on your dome light. If could be a short in the switch behind the knob. If you can adjust everything lighted in the car except the speedo, sounds like something there isn't right. The day the mechanic looked at it was probably a good day.
I would look at the main switch behind the knob or the speedo cluster.

Actually it was today, and it sucked because I waited 2 hours. Just kidding, I know what you mean.

I felt like an ass because the girl who took all my info/keys was hot, and she came back to tell me there was nothing wrong with the lights.

The guy said pulling the cluster out would be a pain in the ass. I'll have to further investigate I guess.
