how loud is it?
when mine starting going out, i pretty much let it get to the point where it was screaming (about 6 months later). but when i pulled it all apart my throwout bearing was still in one piece.
i would say if it's just chirping a little bit, then it's ok to run on it for quite some time. on the other hand, i have heard stories of the bearing breaking apart or getting stuck on the input shaft which would definitely not be good.
