My name is Brian Griffin, i'm 17 years old and i haven't really liked to talk about it much, but i know it's kinda neat to see crash pictures sometimes, so i'd like to tell you the story of my first true love, "Sweetheart" the Mustang.

I moved back in with my dad this past october, and he lived 35 miles away from the school I had gone to basically my entire life, of course I refused to go to any other school, so I needed a car. I found a 95 Mustang convertible for $2,800, god bless this guy, took amazing care of it, nothing wrong with it even at 147,000 miles.
Anyway, i drove that thing through almost the entire winter every day in Michigan. Which if you've ever driven a mustang on an icy road or in snow, you know how amazing of a feat i accomplished in just that, especially being my first car and first winter i've driven in.
On the morning of February 26, 2009, i woke up, got ready for school, and took off. Today was a good day, seeing as how the snow had melted the day before, and roads appeared to be clear. I was pretty excited to at least do the speed limit again without the threat of sliding off the road, or so i thought.
I even tested the roads by accelerating pretty hard out of my driveway to check for sliding, none. So when a white van pulled out in front of me doing only 40, i went to go pass without even a second thought.
As soon as i got up side to side with this van, i began to fishtail, and i mean violently, too fast to countersteer out of. I would have just spun out eventually, but thanks to that van being there, i couldn't. When i was going to spin out, i actually clipped the van, which in turn pushed me off of the road at 55 mph. That's all i remember, but it's very obvious that after going off the road, i ended up wrapped around a tree on the driver's side door. I was knocked unconscious by the airbag, and awoke to a paramedic in my backseat. The firefighters had cut my top off (even though all they had to do to put it down was hold down a button.) and they were in the process of smashing my passenger window. Why? I guess they like to use a hammer on an unconscious boy's injured pony.
Rushed to the hospital, blah blah blah, all i got was a headache and a couple glass pieces in my eyes, which was removed with no problem, i can still see fine and everything. The tree bent the frame in 14-15 inches. I was told by the police that they expected me to be dead when they pulled up to the scene, and they said had the frame not been as strong as it was, i very well could not be telling you this story today.
This is the road approaching the scene of the accident:

After this accident, i can safely say that the Mustang is the ONLY vehicle i will ever feel 100% safe in, no matter what.
