Default Might be buying a 84 mustang LX convertible

Hey everybody I am new to the forum and wanted to ask some questions. I Might be buying a 84 mustang LX convertible with a 6 cyl. Now he car seems to be in really good shape from the pics but I have not seen the car in person. NADA site said the car is worth about $4,500 that was also what be was asking for the car in the first place. But he has gone down a whole lot since then so I really interested. First question NADA is the only website I can get 80's car values. Does anyone know another site that I can use. KBB used to giv older car values but they don't anymore. I use another site for 60 and 70 model cars but they stop at 1979.

IS an 84 mustang carb or fuel injected?

Last but not lest if anyone has a mustang with a 6cyl around this year model can you tell me how you like the car and if you have any major problems or complaints about it. I know that it is a pretty older car and a lot depends on how someone takes care of it but any info would be great.

If the car is in perfect shape with perfect records of ALL work ever performed it is still not worth $4500. You need to look at it first.

As for FI or carb, there were many configurations that year, it could be either.

A friend of mine has a 83.5 GL ragtop. It's fun to drive, but doesn't have much hp. The seats are pretty comfortable. If you want major hp, then get the crate motor from SSM. It comes with a carb. Fuel injection started in 86 for Mustangs. 83.5 was the first year back for ragtops so yours is worth a little less the hers. Hers had two problems. She needed a new fuse box and it overheated. This was do to improper care from a previous owner and not the car. Parts are fairly easy to get.

Yea, NADA seems to be really high with car values especially the 80's models. I looked up a value for an 85 vette(Don't get too mad I know it a chevy) on NADA and it said average worth $12,000. I couldn't see how anybody would pay that much for the car. What I do like about the mustang being an 84 model it first you don't have to pass emissions test because its already 25 years old. Now the car is considered an antique which also qualifies the car for antique insurance. now I don't know if this car would ever really being a collector item in the future but that isn't the real reason for buying. I just lost my job with my company car. So, I just need a car to get me around what little I will be driving now until my next position to see if I get company car again.

Not sure what is the vintage of hte book you are using, but the 1985 Corvette is not even worth half that. You need a better reference book for sure.
