Default pony wheels on 1997 Mustang

I have a 1997 and have always liked the look of the pony wheels from the fox bodies, and i would like a set on my car. when using the wheel pit at LRS it says they won't fit, but when i take off the filter i found 5 lug versions with a 4.5 bolt circle and +24mm offset. my question is why won't they fit? does LRS not want to mix fox body rims with sn-95 cars? also, if they would fit, does anybody know the tire size i should go with so i don't have to recalibrate my speedo?

79-93 PONY WHEEL, 17X8, 5-LUG SILVER, W/ "PONY R" CENTER CAP MUSTANG

I don't know why LRS is blocking you out... if you go on tire-rack, there are plenty of 17x8 wheels, with (+)24-25 offsets, and 5x114.3 (4.5") lug patterns - just look at the pic! It seems LRS is worried about the offset, since their 17x8 selections for your car have offsets of 29-30. But the larger offset means the wheel is actually inward more - which is done to prevent a wider wheel from sticking outside your fender (which is illegal). LRS are probably concerned that the wider wheel will stick out of your fender (with an offset of 25), so they don't let you choose it. However, I say go for it!! I really don't think it will stick out that much... if at all.

If I remember right, the stock offset is 25mm, so your wheel will only be "growing" outward by half of the change in width. So, going from the stock 7.5" rim to the 8" rim would only add 1/4" to the outside - and there should be room in your fender for that!

Oh, and the tires should be 245/45-R17.

hey, thanks alot. I'm not worrie about them sticking out that much further, if anything it might just make them look wider.
