Hey guys, just chiming in to show you the results of my little project I did over the weekend.
I installed the 8000k HID conversion kit from Stangmods with the help of a buddy. The install wasn't even hard and only took an hour or so.

very nice i did my 99 about 3 months ago or so. i did the fog lights at the same time....
made one mistake tho.. i decided to mount the drivers side ballast behind the battery.... my washer fluid tank was there hahahaha... still gotta patch the hole
that looks really really good i love it and where did you mount the ballasts and how is night driving .... way better
and does any of you guages dim or anything ??

I mounted the driver's side ballast down behind the headlight area beneath where all the wires are connected from the headlight into the engine bay. There was a perfect nook down there big enough for the ballast to be taped using heavy duty double sided mounting tape.
The passenger side was mounted on the side tucked next to the cold air intake area. (there was plenty of space and spots on the passenger side.)
After installing the HIDs, I had to re-aim the head lamp beams so I didn't blind on coming traffic.
There was definitely a improvement in visibility at night! The first night I installed it, I accidentally plugged in a cord for the ballast backwards. I ended up thinking it was a bad ballast, so I drove with only one headlight. It by itself was brighter than my crappy silverstars and foglights combined.
And to answer your last question: None of my gauges dimmed or flickered from the HIDs, everything is working fine. (As I recall, HIDs use less energy than standard halogen set ups)

Excellent job!!!! That looks great - and since you did it yourself, it looks even better! How much did that kit run ya? I might have to get one soon...

I dream of one of these kits since I have poor night vision. And yes, these kits draw less power through the headlight wiring than standard headlights.

It cost me $279.99 from stangmods.com. Free 2 day air and lifetime guarantee on the kit. It's a really sweet deal. Also, you get to pick what color temperature. I was going to get 6000K's but I'm so glad I got the 8000K's, they look sick.

Oh man, seriously. I've tried them all with my stock lights. I even bought these crappy Nokya bulbs that emulated the HID color and totally melted the connectors in the back of the headlight.
Silverstars are great, but they're still gold color. These lights seriously cut through the dark! I'm glad I got them FINALLY.
I'm thinking of getting 6000K HIDs for my foglights... overkill? Maybe. Crazy? Maybe. But I enjoy the thought of my car being a blinding beacon of light on the road at night.

Agreed - go for the HID fogs man: you can be a lighthouse of hope to all the Kias and Hyundais out there... LOL
Thanks for the pricing - I think I'm gonna go 10000K!! I like that purplish tint... plus everyone around here has the blue kits, so you know I gotta be different!

Thanks to this thread I just bought a kit for my 1999 GMC Jimmy (my daily driver and tow vehicle) off Ebay. Next is a set for the car. Looking forward to some similar results.
I have a question. DO you find that you are blinding people or could you adjust them to ease that problem?

Oh no, I was just joking about blinding people. You'll definitely get a flash from the occasional cranky driver who's not used to HIDs, But that hasn't happened since I installed mine.
(When I had my stock silverstars with my foglights driving down from the coast, I got flashed at!)
Make sure when you install them on your stang (and your Jimmy), you adjust your beams so you don't get pulled over! So, to answer your question: Yes on my Mustang (99-04 gen) it's very easy to adjust the beams if you're using the stock headlamp set up.

seems like im the one who gets blinded being like right at the height alot of headlights are lol damn trucks.... this one jerk in my town was bragging saying that he aimed his foglamps to point into oncoming traffic's faces.. needless to say i dont like that kid much... (dont worry he doesnt have a mustang)

I like this "lighthouse of hope" image! Lol. I was actually thinking about putting some yellow lamin X on the fogs. I hear yellow light output is good for functionality.
10K would be crazy! Except the picture on stangmods shows a car with purple-ish hue light, but from what I've read/seen on various websites, 10K is a brighter neon blue. You might have to dig around more if you want purple hue. You might want to consider getting like 5000K foglights to make up for light output for safety reasons!
(The last thing I need to hear is someone on here getting in a wreck over my excitement with HIDs)
Remember though, the higher the color temperature the lower light output. I read about how 4300K-6000K range best emulates daylight. Anything higher is in the realm of decorative/cool factor > Functionality.
