Default 2003 V6 exhaust question.

I'm new to this forum and I'm sure I'll be blasted with people telling me to search for info already posted here, but I'd really appreciate some help. I just bought a 2003 3.8l V6 and I'm not happy with the stock exhaust. I want to replace it with a aftermarket system that makes it louder, and more musclecar-ish (I know it's just a v6, but don't have a better way to describe the desired sound lol) I absolutely WILL NOT put anything on it that's going to make it sound ricey. I'd rather it be dead silent than sound like an eclipse....I plan to add a CAI in the near future (idk if that has any major effect on exhaust)

I don't bother racing the thing (other than stomping it past minivans and the like) So all I'm really looking for is good sound quality.

Default muffler suggestion

As far as good full exhaust system cant contest to that but I have everything stock on my exhaust except for my muffler. I replaced it with a Magnaflow Super 44 and it sounds pretty good.

well the best way for you to find something you think sounds good is to search on youtube for different exhaust setups but generally most people end up going to an exhaust shop and have them set them up with a pair of flowmasters, some sort of midpipe whether it be an h-pipe, x-pipe, or divorced duals (no crossover) and a cool set of tips... but it seems like EVERYONE gets flows.. youtube it tho itll give you a better idea.. a CAI does change the exhaust a little bit makes it deeper has a bit more growl..

sorry made a mistake on that its a Flowmaster. A lot of people do tend to go duel. I have herd good thing about X-pipe over H-pipe though, ultimately its your call though. Stick with something made by flowmaster of magnaflow. Like the guys above said you tube it. it helped me out.

Summit racing makes a cat back for the V6 that I was looking at largely because it's $209. It just has a y pipe that bolts up to the factory pipe behind the stock cats. My biggest problem is not having sound on my computer (I have no idea why and haven't been able to figure out how to fix it) Thanks for the input though. I'm going to have to do some research on a friends computer

The y-pipe can make it sound ricerish. It wouldn't cost you much more to go to a good exhaust shop and have them make you an h-pipe, put on a set of flows, and some stainless steel tips.

Thanks for the tip on the y-pipe. There are kids all over where I live running their ricers all over the place with these god awful mufflers on them. I'm pretty sure they just assume that the louder their car is the cooler they sound. I don't share that mentality.
