Default rear mount turbo

alright I have a 03 v6 and i'm getting ready to start my rear mount turbo set up. I have my turbo, piping and a shop full stuff to make my build happen. I'm just waiting for my oil return pump, oil lines and other lil things to finally get here so i can start making things happen. Has anyone ever done one of these builds? anyone have tips on what will make this thing goes as smoothly as possible? pics would help out alot cuz I'm having trouble on the location of the turbo.

Most of the rear mount systems I have seen are tucked up between the gas tank and the fenderwell. STS is a good place to look for ideas. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.....

For sure I'll being taking tons of pix as the install goes on. I thought of putting it behind the gas tank and rear bumper just for the fact that in all the set ups i've seen nobody has put it there, I mean if I'm gonna do it I might as well do it somewhere nobody else has. But as for the heat coming off the turbo do you think it will too much for heat for the gas tank? I'm planning on making a heat shield for it. But i got my bov finally. Still waiting on the oil pump and all the lines to get here.

I'm starting off with a small a/r .48 turbo just because I dont wanna go all out in the beginning. i still have to build the rest of the car up to handle the extra power. As for raising the boost up, I'm starting with somewhere around 5 or 6 psi. until i beef up the rear end and the internals. this is my first turbo build on my own car, i mainly just work on fire trucks with huge turbos so i figured it's time to turbo charge my own ride.

sammy boy I'm putting it together piece by piece, sts sells kits for certain cars but they offer a universal kit but your gonna spend around 3k but you get what you pay for.As for my kit I'm barely gonna spend 500 for everything that is until I get bored with the low boost and have to break down and spend the extra cash on making everything withstand that extra boost but since I have a shop full of stuff to bend my pipes and a welder etc.. it's gonna save me that extra money. If you got the time and the urge to go faster than all the ricer's then for sure turbo charge your pony. Let me know how it goes if you make the chioce to do a turbo set up good, luck bro

hey bro after reading what I wrote I guess I didn't really answer your question, alright I've been shopping around trying to find the best deals but here is the price list so far so parts are from ebay, craigslist, and my local speedshop.
turbo-$100
side mount intercooler-$50(guy just needed it gone)
scavenger pump-$50(ebay) not sure about it but we'll see
oil lines-free i use them at work(best price ever)
heat shield-made it at work out of spare stainless-not needed but it's right by my gas tank so better safe than sorry.
all the fabbing is being done at my shop by me and our welder(good friend of mine)
bov-$75(is adjustable up to 30 psi,for later on)
that's what i'm up so far but there's an idea of what your up against doing a booty mount turbo build
I havn't got all the fittings yet but i'm sure it's gonna cost about $50 or so
