Default New Deck in 1999 Mustang

Hey Guys

I'm interested in picking up a new deck, a sub, and some door speakers for my 99 Mustang. I have the stock Mach 460 setup right now and want something different. I would like to keep the deck somewhat stock looking, but I've had no luck so far...

Also, what size are the door speakers on my car? Someone told me they're 10's but im not sure...

And I know I bought a Mustang so I shouldnt give a crap about trunk space, but i would like to take up as little room with a sub as possible so...

Any Help is Appreciated and Thanks for Reading

Thanks
tgray41

the door speakers and rear deck speakers are 6x8's but i have heard that 6x9's will also fit.

You'll be able to fit 5x7 / 6x8 in both the front & rear stock locations. In my '00 convertible, I have Infinity Kappa 5x7 components up front with mirror-mounted tweeters, 3-way Infinity Kappa 5x7 in the rear, & 3 Fosgate Punch P2 subs in a custom box mounted in the trunk. Needless to say, my trunk space is nil but the system sounds AWESOME--even for a convertible!

Not too sure about your question regarding a new deck... does the Mach1 system come as single or double DIN? It shouldn't be too difficult once you determine this variable.

I've heard from a few installers complain that building around the Mach1 audio system is a pain but hopefully that's not the case.

the 99 comes a double, the radio/tape is one tray and the cd is the other... when i say stock, i mean like not ricer looking lol. i know something aftermarket wont look oem, but something close is preferred

ok, so it's the same as in my 2000... you can get away with most single DIN receivers with an adapter to keep it looking clean. Although this will leave you with a bit of an eye-sore underneath... for that, you can buy a stereo dash delete kit so you won't have that old wonky non-functional stock CD player sitting under your brand new deck.

You can pull it out & replace it with a delete kit for a much cleaner look... here's one I found on Amazon & another on Crutchfield. Either will do the trick.

Amazon.com: METRA Ltd 88-00-9000 Universal Radio Install Kit: Electronics

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120889000/Dash-Pocket.html

Also, to help determine which receivers will fit in your vehicle, enter your vehicle info on Crutchfield & their search engine will show you all of the decks that will fit in your stang. This is a helpful tool for researching (even if you buy the deck elsewhere).

i have a 99 and replaced the head units with a regular single piece headunit and took the factory cd player out and went with a sirius radio (starmate replay) back in 2005 and circuit city sold a kit that the sirius radio would go in the extra bay that the 99 came with. I will have to get a picture up so u can see what i mean
