Default 17s or 18s, that is the question

So I'm getting new rims. I can go 17 by 8 on the front and 17 by 10.5 on the back or I can go 18 by 9 on the front and 18 by 10 on the back. The 17s will cost a pretty penny less, but although that will play into my decision, it is not a deal breaker or maker. So, what do you all think I should go with? Your opinions are greatly appreciated and will play a large role in my decision, so thanks in advance.

17's add enough unsprung weight as it is, 18's are a bit much imho.

if you dont mind the added weight, they look great and fill up the wheel wells quite nicely.

i have 18's, but i do think 17's tend to look better. i would just look at a bunch of pictures of both and see what you like and take the weight factor into account as well

I would roll on 17's I think that's the best all-round size for a stang. I run 17x9's front and back with 275/40's all around on my 03 GT. Although, I would like to someday get 17x10.5's to run beefy 315's in the back

yes, I'm trying to make it look really staggered my doing 8's and 10.5's. That won't have a negative effect on handling, will it?

You'll have more grip on the road, but you'll feel slower because of the added weight of the bigger rims and tires.

I mean, the 8's in the front won't have a negative effect on handling, will they? Around here I'll trade a little speed for handling due to the curvy roads.

They shouldn't, it'll give you better handling imo.

1st pic (189) is the reason i bought the 22"s i was doing donuts and hit the curb ...i was on loose gravel...there was a cop in the area to who barely saw what i did...he stoped yelled at me and said he wouldnt give me a ticket cus he knew i wasnt going to be driving that car again for a while...the back end got hela fukd up needed to get a whole new end...

Man, now those are some rims! I saw some 30 inchers while I went to a few local shops (I'm still trying to figure out what on earth those things will fit on). I think I'm going to go for the 17's as I can get a better staggered look that way.
