Default Sumitomo HTR Z Tire

I was going to buy this tire with new rims today, but I read last night on here that sumitomos are absolute garbage. Is this true? Furthermore, what's a good tire that I can buy for a similar price?

What is your goal with the car? Which Nittos?

It's a daily driver at this point, but not a lot of miles get put on it. I plan to do a bit more to it after school when it stops being my daily driver. I was looking at the NT555's if I go with nittos.

The HTR Z's are a bit softer, so you won't get a ton of mileage out of either. Go with something around the 260+ treadwear rating for best results. I had Falken 512's on my car before, and they were decent.

I was actually looking at Faulkens, but when they told me around $300 for each tire I about had a heart attack. So the HTR Z's are softer? How long will they last? More importantly, are they likely to have a blowout 5 miles after I put them on?

I've been using the HTRZ II's since May and they still have the beads on the sides, barely any wear and have held up amazingly in the rain. Also the handling and traction is pretty damned outstanding. Driven almost exactly 10k miles and they seem just about new. Hope that helps ya.
