I'm getting rims tomorrow and have a big headache now. I wish I could say that the price doesn't matter, but it does. I need to know what's a decent tire. I'm looking at sumitomos, nittos, nexens, and nakangs. Are any of these bad tires? I'll probably go with what's the least expensive after knowing what's out of the question. Thanks.
There are Hankook's for cheap on tirerack.com, but i dont have any personal expierience with them. My friend has Nitto's and they have performed well for him. Cruizinconcepts.com usually has some good deals on tire packages.
My advice is to wait till you can afford what you really want. Going the cheap route hurt me two weeks ago. If it sounds too good to be true (cough..cough..Sumitomo!) you'll pay for it in the long run.

+1 I know you're anxious to get rims on your Stang, but it will be worth the wait. You don't want bad tires messing up your ride, causing an accident, or damaging your new rims - so it's better to buy good rubber. From your list: I would recommend the Nittos.
I've seen you asking questions about rims & tires, and I know you're close to getting 4 new rollers... but it's better to do things right the first time. Did you check into local tire shops to see if they have package deals, like I suggested before?

Yes, I checked out a lot of local shops. I almost had a heart attack everytime they told me $300 a tire for the rear. But, I ordered of AM today and got the Nittos. I hope I didn't waste my money.

Hmmm... that sux. Local shops should've been able to cut ya deal on the tires at least (since they deal with them)... Oh well, at least you got them from a great company and helped out our fellow AFM member, Nick! I think the Nittos will work great for you. You got the NT555s but not the drag radials (NT555Rs), right? I hope so, since they will have better treadlife (than the drag radials) for your street car... btw, a tread-rating of 300 isn't bad for a performance tire, so those NT555s are pretty good.

Yes, I got the tires, not the radials. I figured that a steering response of 9.6 would handle the curvy roads here better than a tire that showed n/a for that. They should be coming in Thursday!!!
Look up the Car and Driver Tire Test for 2009. They compared a bunch of high performance tires for under 200 dollars. Also check out the tires section of the forums here and there are a couple of reviews. I posted a review on my Eagle GT's about a Month ago.

I have Falken FK452's on my V6, and they seem to be a good tire.
But... I love my Cooper Zeon 2XS's that I have on my fox, I'm on my second set, they have awesome traction and they don't wear out super quick, they are a regular ZR tire.
