I'm ordering a sct sf3/xe tuner tomorrow and i was wondering if buying a shift improver kit would be worth it

A shift kit will be great for your auto on top of the tuner

Definitely! Go for it!!! A short throw shifter will make shifting a breeze (especially from 2nd to 3rd) & will allow you to reposition your shifter to a more comfortable position.

I believe his car is an automatic, so no need for a short shifter

on the 05 auto the shift is controlled by the sct tuner within the tune. i thought the old shift kits were only on the old stuff.?

Only if you consider the new edge old They make shift kits for our 4R70W which should of came from factory, oras they call the J-Mod. this firms up the shifts, creates less heat and improves life of the tranny.

thankx fobra559 for the correction. For some reason I was reading shift kit but thinking about & comprehending short throw shifter. My bad... I rescind my previous comment. A shift kit will provide your automatic with harder shifts & will be good for your auto transmission. This will do well to compliment a custom tune.
