I have a 2002 Mustang Coupe V-6. Last night I pulled up to a Stop Light and my Air Bag deployed . I did not bump anything!!!
I tried to research any air bag recalls and all I found was a recall for the 2005 Stang.
Anybody heard anything? Any idea how much it cost to replace it?
I have not called the Ford Dealer yet. Wanted to get some feedback first.
I hope somebody out there can give me some imput.
i would call and yell at them about it at your local ford dealership, throw the word lawsuit around freely, you need to fix this you could have killed my son who was in the front etc etc
milk them, that shouldnt be your problem if the airbag deployed

First off, you don't call the Ford dealer and ***** like this. They will laugh hang up on you since they could care less. If you maybe called Ford's corporate offices you could get someone to actually speak to that might care, but I doubt that too.
Second, kids never belong in the front seat. Anyone that allows their kids in the front seat of any airbag equipped car is just following Darwin's laws.
Thirdly, there is nothing in this that is even remotely lawsuit material. Again, you'd get laughed at.
Bring the car to a reputable mechanic that has the proper tools for airbag work and figure out what happened. Fix the car properly and relax in the knowledge that this is a pretty much non-existent problem and most likely there were either warning sighs (like an airbag light on at one time) or the airbag light had burned out (meaning it never came on when you turned the car on). Sucks it happened, but this is not Ford's fault.
Why would you assume that no one cares??? Have you talked to anyone yet. If you go in looking for a battle you will find one. How about calling a Ford service department and ask them about it, then ask them for someone with Ford corporate to talk to. Try being nice and ask for help. You can always be an ***hole down the road. You are looking for answers and possibly some help that isn't the way to start a conversation. I have been fixing cars for over thirty years and have never seen a bag deploy without an impact(a hard impact), this is the first time I have even heard of it happening. As a tech I have seen giant leaps forward in Ford's quality and providing us in the business with the information to keep their cars on the road.

and if a customer brings a car in with a concern, it better be under warranty or they better bring some cash with them.
and just because you can FIND a battle doesnt mean you're gonna win it.
the bottom line, is that unless the car is covered under bumper-to-bumper warranty (powertrain warranty does not apply to SRS systems), they are in no way obligated to fix it.
i had an 04 XG just last week that was 2 months out of warranty and the SRSCM suddenly failed for no reason. the customer argued till she was blue in the face, but still ended up paying $400 for a new one.
