Default Best RPM for MPG

I drive an 02 V6 5-speed and lately I'm starting to find that if I keep my RPMs right around 2k that I'm getting the best gas mileage I can. Has anybody looked into this?

All I know is that if you keep your RPM's at 2k or below, then you can achieve good MPG. Of course take in the factor of when you take off on a stop or stoplight, ease into the throttle. I get over 325miles a tank in my auto when I do this

i have a 94 5spd and i dont know what mileage i get but....i find that if i drive in fourth around 1500 rpm....in the city.....my tanks seems to last a little longer...and like fobra559 said...ease on the throttle and take your time between gears and such...helps alot....on the highway i drive between 1800 and 2 grand....seems to get really good mileage on long trips

I notice at speed, there is a 3-4 mpg difference between going 65 and 70. If you drive 75 or more, its almost guranteed a 10 mpg difference from doing 65.

My car for example, has done the best of 35 mpg, also done 33 and 32 a few times at 65 mph. Doing 70, its about 28-30. Doing 75 or more, it will get 25, 26.

Having the A/C on hasn't had as large an impact as I originally thought, only 1-2 mpg.

The largest thing is how far you dip into the throttle, if you get up to speed quickly, it will show.
