Question Will the Ford "ET" German 4 speed transmission handle the torque of the OHV 4.0L v6?

I am in process of swapping out the Ford 2.8L v6 from my Triumph TR7 that I coverted years ago. I would like to upgrade to a 1992 Ford OHV 4.0L V6. Currently I am working on a Carburated intake for the OHV 4.0L using a modified lowered intake with six individual streetbike carbs as for the ignition I haven't decided whether I go with the Megajolt ignition or use Stock Ford 2.9L Distributor and ignition? Anyways I digress! Do any of you guys know whether or not the German 4 speed as used in the German Capri will handle the 4.0? Thanks for any help!!

My thought is to swap out the engine/transmission as a unit and avoid the hassle of mating the new engine and the old transmission. That way you have a clutch unit made to order (matches the transmission input shaft), no bellhousing/block interface to match, and starter already matched to the flywheel.

Assuming that the unit will fit inside the transmission tunnel, your work will be to secure it with a crossmember, match the driveshaft yoke to the transmission, speedometer hookup, hole for the shifter (which will be infinitely better than the Capri), and clutch cable/hydraulic line. Probably more, but I'm not thinking clearly at the moment.

Incidentally, you will also be assured that the transmission will handle the torque of the 4.0, regardless of what it is.

Hope this helps.

Good racing,

Bill

The drivetrain that is in the TR7 is from a Ford capri there is no Triumph parts in it anymore. What I have in the car at this point is as follows:
1977 Ford 2.8L V6 from a German imported Capri
4 speed transmission from German Capri Type ET or F????
7.5" Ford Differential.

The 4.0L and 2.8L all share the same bellhousing bolt patterns. The only thing I will need to change are the motor mounts due to the 2.8L being offset "they never removed the engine block offset when Ford went away from the balanced shaft V4 engine" I was just worried about going from 150ft/lbs of torque to 220ft/lbs of torque
