Default Buying 1995 mustang v6 tomorrow and have some ? about radio and mechanical things

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the site and have some questions. I have a 2001 pontiac and the transmission went so I am going to buy a 1995 Mustang V6 tomorrow. The car only has 62,000 miles on it and I am paying 2400. I did a Carfax and it looks good. The car drives good and seems to be mechanically sound. I am having my mechanic take a look at it tomorrow before I actually buy it. The owners replaced a head gasket last year and they said it is a common problem with this car. So here are my questions and I am hoping that someone can help me as I'm sure most people here know alot of mustangs and I really don't know much!

Is 2400 a good price for this car?

Will the head gasket go again or is it a one time fix type of thing?

What other mechanical problems are common with the car?

Also the radio didn't sound very good. Its the stock radio am/fm cassette. I plan on buying a deck for it and wanted to know if that should make it sound better or if I am going to need to buy speakers as well? Is this common that the stock system sounds crappy?

Thanks so much in advance for any information or help you guys can give!

Trish

as far as the head gaskets go, yes they were a common problem.
the block is cast iron and the heads are aluminum, so when the engine heats up the 2 metals expand at different rates.

the early head gaskets werent able to handle that stress and failed often.
ford corrected this with a tsb that covered the car up to 7 years/100k miles. once the gaskets have been replaced, you should be good to go. you can also take your VIN to any ford dealership and they'll be able to tell you if the head gaskets have been replaced.

dunno about the radio.
