well i finally made the trip to my local 1/8th mile and was pretty content with how my car ran after the work i've done to it.
here's the basic breakdown of how the night went:
best reaction: .5817
best 60ft : 2.2002
best 330ft : 6.3806
best trap : 71.67 mph
as for my best 1/8th mile time...here comes the kicker.
i had been lining up with this same 99-04 GT, stock, automatic, a bunch of times that night. he was beating me, but it was within 1-2 tenths of a second each run. i would beat him off the line, beat him to the 60ft, be nose & nose at the 330, and then he'd start to slowly inch ahead, catching me before the traps. this happened a total of 6 times, consecutively. finally i parked the car, popped the hood and let it cool down for a half hour or so. after that, i get back in line and lo and behold guess who i'm lined up against...that same 99-04 stock automatic GT. what crappy luck...or so i thought...
so, after getting a little sideways in the waterbox, i staged, held the rpms around 1,900 , and nailed a nice 60ft with not a lot of wheelspin. as expected i pulled out in front for a while, and the GT started catching up...creeping up ever so slowly. we were neck and neck from the 330 all the way to the traps. it was such a close race i couldnt tell who won. when i got my timeslip, i was astonished to see i had ran a 9.9072 against the GT's 9.9274.
that was my best e/t of the night, and needless to say i had a very happy drive home.
one of the times i raced him, he did manage a 9.6something...so i know i still have a little ways to go, but still...i didnt even imagine i would hang with, let alone beat a 99-04 GT in the 1/8th. i gotta wonder how i'd do with better tires, im still chirping 2nd and 3rd.
and for the haters out there who want to say my story is impossible/didnt happen, i'll post a pic of my timeslip on monday, i left my phone at work.
its not that hard to beat a gt there are just alot of haters around thinking their car is all that and a bag of chips ... but congrats did you take out your spair and get you tires to the proper psi and other track prep ... youd be suprised how much the little things help
had some awesome weather all week, i guess a small cold front came in...anyway i went again tonight and ran few 10-flats, a couple 9.8's, and lastly, managed a 9.7004 @ 72.21mph!
and i beat a 96-98 GT "BOSS" 2 out of 3 times ! not by much, but still !
the track is so much fun! congrats on the great times! i remember when i beat a roush mustang at the track last time i was out. of course im sure he missed some gears/didnt know how to drive it, but i still ran a 14.65 i think, which isnt great, but isnt terrible either!
