I have a 2000 V6 with dual flowmasters. When I'm driving the exhaust sounds pretty good but when I'm at a stand stiil or ideling its very quiet. I was wondering, is this just because its a V6, no headers or any other reason?

its because the rpms die down. add a tune and adjust to 1000 rpm at idle N
would that waste gas? and u mean get a tuner?

yes u would need a tuner for that.. and yes it would waste a little more gas than usual.. but it would sound better if that makes u feel any better lol
To the OP: it's partially cuz rpms are low, but I've also heard that Flowmasters are quiet at low rpms since they're chambered. Straight thru mufflers (borla?, glasspacks, cherry bombs, Pypes Race Pro or Violators) will be louder at idle.
Also, they are suggesting you get a tuner and adjust the idle to 1000 rpm... it will probably affect gas mileage in a minor way (maybe 1 mpg), but then again, how often are you sitting at idle?
