Question 1995 Mustang 3.8L Starter Motor?

So... I've worked on my 302 and 4.6 a lot, but I'm helping a buddy with his 3.8, and I have a question.

When we were pulling the motor, it was really hard to get to the upper starter bolt. We ended up going over the top of the top of the motor from the engine compartment and reaching down, but I'd really like to put the heads and intake on before we drop the motor back in, and then we won't be able to put the starter motor back that way, since we won't be able to reach it. Is there a trick to this bolt that we missed? Do I need 3 feet of extensions and to go at it from the front? Or did I just not quite get in the right position for it? Thanks

Hrm... I have both of those and a swivel joint. It has a good ol' boy exhaust, but I don't think that's what was getting in the way... that's what I get for asking my friend to take that part off. I guess I'll just take a closer look myself this time. As long as it's possible... I have this nagging fear that we'll install the heads with the one-use head gaskets and TTY bolts and then have to pull them to get the starter motor on. I can't imagine that I'd actually have to, but I thought I'd check on here to see if there's a trick I may have missed.
