Default I wonder if the Aussie Falcon engine would fit...

So...

Down under, they make a 4.0L inline 6 with variable valve timing and a turbo that belts out around 350hp. They put them in the falcons.

I'm having dreams about putting a Falcon motor in my mustang...

I wonder if it would fit. A non-turbo non-vvt version would be easy to hook up to a for 3.8L computer...if...you had the time. It's just a matter of fooling the cpu by using the 3.8 sensors...big big project but...so cool.

I dunno, one day. The Aussie engines are derivatives of the old I-6's from the USA Falcons. It wouldn't be a great leap considering that the 02+ Falcon uses the same 5 speed auto tranny that the 05+ mustangs use; the bolt pattern is the same, or so I am told.

It would have a great gee whiz factor and the DOHC Ford I-6's are very tough and very smooth (7 main bearings, forged internals, no nasty 2nd order vibrations). Think 24v Nissan Skyline R34 engines and Toyota Supra engines making 1000hp with @'s and on pump gas, the late generation Ford OZ I-6's are of the same caliber.

One day, maybe, but yeah...mostly just looking for feedback. I dunno what all I'd have to do to make it fit.

P.S. @ <-- shorthand for turbocharger when I was in a hurry.

I went over to Fordmods.com and found a Canadian guy who apparently swapped or was swapping a Barra I6 in to a Mustang. If I can find more on it, i'll post it. Apparently, some of those I6's down there produce over 400hp/400tq from the factory and can be lightly tuned to produce way over 500hp/500tq.

EEEeennteresting.
