I'm biased, but I recommend scrapping the live axle in favor of the Cobra rear end. I really have no reason for saying that...none at all...nope .

It won't be under $400, but figure I paid $700 for my IRS and maybe another $300 in other parts to make it all live harmoniously with the rest of my Mustang. If you want handling, you really can only go so far with a live axle. Save your bones for an IRS...imho.

The one guy is right about the Tokico's off of a Mach 1 being the same spec. I have Mach 1 spec Tokico's and I love them, not too stiff but a huge improvement over the stock pieces.

I am not sure if you were responding to me about the Bilsteins? I do not remember saying anything about them? I do not particularly like them but I know a lot of people who do and will swear by them.

I am just saying that the guy could spend 600-700 in parts and install them all himself and be more than happy with the result. I know I was at first and I care a lot more about suspension than most people do.
I understand.... My Bilstein comment was aimed at the OP, sorry for confusion.

I just see many people buy one thing...then another....then something else....then relize at some point one of those parts doesn't work out.

I personally would never put a used shock on anything. Its got to work on a vehicle for X amount of miles, then you take it off, put it on your car, usually with lowering springs and then you make it work even harder.

Just seems like a waste of time.

All 79-04's will work. Find one at a junkyard. It will help with body roll.....
