Hello everyone I'm new to this site. And i got my v6 mustang about a month ago and so far all it has is an H-pipe, dual cherrybomb exhaust, short headers, K&N air filter, and a couple visual mods. but what i would liKe to Know is my friend told me taKe off my cats and to also put some cams on. Well first off i would liKe to Know if taKing off my cats would be bad? and how much do cams cost? plz and thanK you
If you have a V6, I wouldn't recommend taking off the cats. The V6 can sound raspy in the higher rpms without them. Now, the cams might not be a bad idea. Check out super six motorsports.
from what ive read a cam wont yield much since it needs support mods. like heads, and a tune is a must.
theres alot of info ready for you to learn, just search you question.... or you can tap into the minds of many members.
BTW... Welcome... "you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave"

sorry i forgot to mention that but its a 2000 stang. and thanK you for everyone for the replies and i already have the headers so all in all i should remove the cats and get the cams but if i do that what else would you suggest to help give me some hp and a good sound
get rid of the cherry bombs and put on magnaflow or flowmaster... also for the hp i would check into an x-pipe and if you dont already have one you can look at some cold air intakes....but remember its all personal preference so dont take what i said to be perfect and welcome to the site....

The x pipe will give you more hp, but also a raspier tone. The H has a deeper tone. It's just a personal preference, but I'd keep the H pipe. You could look for some high flow cats or a cold air intake as well. I second the flowmaster motion, but again, personal preference.
I've heard that slp are the loudest. Magnaflow are a little louder than the flows, but they tend to be a little raspier and the sound quality is not quite as good. I know flowmaster has a loudness scale on their site, so you might want to check that out.
well alot of the quality on youtube are bad or just the sound quality exaggerates the sound. so yea. what would you honestly recomend Martial Stang. going SLP or flowmaster?
taking off ur cats is also illegal...you will not pass the emissions test. But yes if u take them off then ur car will sound a little raspy at high rpms. (ive heard this talk about flowmasters but welded thrush mufflers sound identical to the flow's but the thrush mufflers are way cheaper. I would just get welded thrush mufflers...you wont be mad )
and here is the link to order the welded thrush mufflers Dynomax 17659 Thrush Welded Mufflers
(if i would have known that these sound the same as flow's i would have gotten them )
As for the cam (not cams) i would check out supersixmotorsports.com and order one from them. Also i would do a fully p/p on ur heads and upper and lower intake manifold. After that i would diff recommend that you get dyno/tuned

Well, I'm happy with flowmasters, but I'm a little biased. You might want to start a new thread about SLP vs. Flowmaster to get some more opinions. As for the youtube thing, a lot are bad quality and such, but it does give you somewhat of an idea.
